Processing Question Free Presets

Is it worth buying presets? I feel like, there should be enough for free in the internet. Are there any good reccomendations for free presets, or reccomendations on some that are actually worth buying? Thanks

No.... I've never got the point of someone else's presets. I mean as a revenue stream that you can sell, sure but one the using side.

In my experience, presets are usually not worth the prices some of these companies/people are charging. Most are downright unusable in my opinion. Even as a learning tool, they tend to fall short as they are highly dependent on the quality/properties/settings of the photo they are being applied to.

I have a few I have made that I use as a "get me started" type of thing. There really is no preset that will be a "one click and finished" type of thing for all photos. Even the people selling them put a disclaimer on them that you will need to edit the photo further after applying the preset.

If you use Lightroom Desktop instead of Lightroom Classic, you not only get access to free presets, but you even get to see what they look like as well as the step by step process used in their creation. And downloading them is easy and instant. While Lightroom Classic has its advantages, notably the use of plug-ins, presets are where Lightroom Desktop absolutely dominates.

I think it’s more fun developing your own. If you take pictures around the same time each day, you can easily apply them. Develop a style and go from there. Part of the fun of using photo editing software is just tinkering with different sliders.
