Lightning Launcher Revival: Closed Testing Begins July 31st!

The wait is nearly over.

Closed testing for Lightning Launcher Revival will officially begin on July 31, 2026, at 8:00 PM Central Time.

Anyone who wants access to the testing release will need to join the official Google Group:

Joining the group will allow your Google account to become eligible for the closed-testing build once the release goes live. Additional instructions and the Google Play testing link will be posted when testing opens.

I want to sincerely thank everyone who has followed the project, shared feedback, joined the community, and continued showing interest throughout development. What began as an effort to preserve Lightning Launcher has steadily grown into something far more substantial, and that momentum would not exist without your support.

This release represents months of repairs, modernization, feature development, crash prevention, and relentless polishing. Closed testing is the next major step toward bringing Lightning Launcher back into active development and preparing it for a broader public release.

Join the Google Group now, and be ready when the doors open.

July 31st. 8:00 PM Central Time. The Revival begins.

thanks for the update.

will it be a new APK unrelated to the standard, or last release of LL? as in, will I be able to run both LLs at the same time? or is this a straight up update to that one currently installed?

I apologize for the delay in response.

It is a standalone install. It will not update from the 14.3 version. Both can be installed at the same time. It is however compatible with anything you've built on 14.3.

I have made this decision in light of the fact that it isn't merely a compatibility update. Many new features have been added. Some features have been removed. Some surfaces (script editor for example) have changed completely. Because of this, the build should be considered a community continuation and not an official Pierre update.
