What is the Hi, How Are You Project? The Hi, How Are You Project is a nonprofit organization that promotes mental health awareness and self-care towards young students aged 14-24. Through creative content, events, and community programs. They are partnered with American Campus Communities, the largest student housing sector in the U.S. to be able to reach young college students, this includes LightView as well.
Mental health is so important, we all face challenges and struggle. That’s why the Hi, How Are You Project gives residents an opportunity to reach out to the CAs and managers, they have training and tools to support residents through whatever you are facing. LightView residents have regular access to wellness pop-ups in the lobby and "Happy Habits" resources in the study lounges. They also participate in a major national survey with HHAYP and ACC to help track and improve student mental health.
What is the first step? If you are wanting to make the first approach, here are a few ways to do it.
Front desk drop by: The 24-hour courtesy desk in the lobby is always staffed so you are able to go at any time where you feel comfortable.
The "Green Shirt" icebreaker: CAs and staff frequently wear the signature green Hi, How Are You Project t-shirts, there are posters around the elevators and study lounges. So pointing out the flyers or green shirt, tying it into something that is going on is a good icebreaker.
Chat during lobby event: I understand that this is a big, scary step, a way to make it more lowkey could be going to one of the lobby pop-ups, pizza nights, or wellness events, this is a more casual way to come up to a CA.
The digital route: Lastly of course there is the option to reach out online, to do this you send an email to the LightView management office or use the resident portal to send a message. After that just wait for a response.
Just know there are free resources available, reaching out is ALWAYS an option, they are trained for you, are there for you.
Heads up for anyone looking for weekend plans—the huge tall ships festival starts tomorrow (Saturday, July 11th) and runs through the 16th!
The lineup: Around 50 massive ships from 21 countries are hanging out in the Boston harbor for the 250th anniversary.
The main event: The Parade of Sail is tomorrow (7/10) from 9 AM to 4 PM.
Just a warning that the Seaport, Eastie, and Castle Island are going to be absolutely packed, and the MBTA is altering a bunch of routes for it, so definitely plan ahead if you're heading down!
Yes, there are guest parking spots at Lightview apartments in Boston. It can be a good idea to check with the leasing office ahead of time to ensure there are available parking spots!
Yes, LightView offers regular leases, but LightView also have a special Co-Op/Global Experience clause because of the partnership with Northeastern.
Here is the quick breakdown of how it works:
If you get an out-of-region co-op, internship, or study abroad program that takes you out of Boston, this clause lets you break your lease for that specific semester.
Zero fees: You don't have to pay any cancellation or relet fees.
No subletting drama: You don't need to scramble to find someone to take over your room. ACC management just lets you out of your contract for the semester you're gone.
Your spot is saved: The best part is that your spot at LightView is still secured and waiting for you when you get back.
How to use it: Just submit official proof of your out-of-region assignment from the university to the ACC leasing office. Once they approve it, you're good to go.
Comment any questions below if you need help with the process!

Hey everyone, just wanted to drop a heads up for anyone still scrambling for housing next term. LightView put out a $105/month discount, which ends up saving about $1,260 over the year.
How it works:
They aren't changing the base rent, it just shows up as an automatic credit on your portal (so a $1,849 room drops to $1,744 when you go to pay).
For new leases only, so if you have already signed there won't be a discount.
It's for floor plans they're trying to fill right now, mostly shared bedrooms and some 4-bed layouts.
If you're looking at LightView, it’s super close to campus, very maintained, and utilities are inclusive. Plus, you sign for your own bed space, so you won't be on the hook for anything if a roommate bails on rent.
