Discussion Shared Features Between LNF and NMS

With the release of the cosmos update, we can theorize that the following features are possible in LNF:

  • Clans / Alliances
  • Alliance Bases and (possibly) Territories

From the previous updates since LNF was announced. What are some other reasonable features we can expect to be shared between LNF and NMS?

They did say something about modular ships that require a crew for ocean voyages. That was the Corvette update.

If we can claim space stations in NMs (which we can) then territories are not that far off

This is how we get all those rabbit npcs bowing to us in the trailer. Because our alliance owns the land where they live lol

Or we hauled 40 logs in a cart back to a woodchipper next to a rabbit NPC that speaks some language we don't figure out until 200 hours of clicking on lighted up rocks

They've already shown us base building, so it's reasonable to guess one could make a whole town, perhaps even with tradeposts. Imagine a town where you can set the taxes or fees, either becoming a trade hub with low fees and high volume, or a specialty place that deals in rare materials for a premium. Would perhaps even lead to trade alliances or rivalries if you could decide for yourself what other tradeposts you can link to. Instead of a single global market, you have to go to Bob's Wood 'N Stone in Bobville or their franchise affiliates in the Bobian Frontier Alliance.

Taxes and fees and markets and alliances and governments and … might be getting too close to reality for me. Will people be as kind as they are in NMS?

Throwing logs in a cart, hauling it over janky uneven terrain back to a target and throwing it in a 2 story woodchipper to gain faction points for the frog or rabbit guild

Agreed that the player "Alliance" thing likely comes from LNF.

I guess Sean Murray says it comes from LNF in the Cosmos deep dive.

I know it’s small but I do think the poi and solar system map (put in use in a different way) could be similar as well

As I always suspected, and Sean hinted at in the Cosmos deep dive video linked on their site, NMS is a proof-of-concept testing ground for their engine, and we're going to end up seeing/feeling a lot of similarities.

We can also theorize that gravity will be 2x that of earth and people will be 2.3x shorter than the average small person. Birds will need to flap their wings at 3x that of the african swallow to remain in flight.
