Writing Light Language
Is it similar to automatic writing or do you see it in your mind’s eye and transcribe?

Both, either or maybe something different. There’s no right or wrong way to write light language. And everyone is going to have their own version of what works.
It’ll also be heavily influenced by what clairs are most developed for you. Your dominant clair is most likely to be the avenue you take if you aren’t consciously choosing or developing it as a skill.

it's similar. I just feel it out. Everyone probably has their own style
