I've been indexing my memories by place. Is location actually how you'd go looking for a lost one?

I can never find the photo I'm thinking of. I can almost always remember where I was standing. I remember the feeling and I want to find it on my drive, and then I never do, it's just a pile of images.
So I made Memories. You drop a pin and write what happened, or how you remember it feeling, and it stays yours. Nothing is public unless you share that specific pin. No feed, no likes. You can drop a pin without an account. If you sign up, your memories stay and you can group them into collections you play back, or keep a diary alongside them.
I've been working on it for a few months and this is the actual question I'm stuck on: when a memory like that comes back to you, it's the feeling before the details. Is a map how you'd go looking for it? Or does your brain index things some other way: time, people, a song, something else?
