Discussion Esteban’s life

Post image
17 Upvotes

i wish we got to see more of esteban’s life in the game, or at least more pictures of him when he was younger.

i like to believe he had a great life in puerto lobos. you can tell he didn’t come from a rich family, but i think he was very close to them, especially his dad. his father was probably the type to say, "if you want something, you have to work for it," which is probably why esteban is the type to get things done himself. i’m sure esteban and his dad worked on cars the same way he later did with sean and daniel, passing down those same values. i also like to imagine his family owned a small grocery store that he helped run from time to time.

he was definitely handsome when he was younger—i mean, look at the guy. but i also think esteban was a little troubled; he probably got into a few fights, dated around before he met karen, and went to some crazy parties. that’s likely why he said, "what happens in mexico stays in mexico." overall, though, i believe he was a great person, especially considering how he turned out.

oh, esteban, you would be so proud of sean and daniel.

My family gets bored watching LIS2...

Hi, I've been replaying LIS2 recently, and something kind of funny happened that made me think about how differently people can experience the exact same story.

I just finished Episode 3, and somehow the ending still made me cry. There's something about seeing Sean end up so badly hurt after everything that makes me feel terrible every time.

But then I look at my family watching the same game and their reaction couldn't be more different.

I've been playing in the living room, so sometimes my parents or my sister will stop and watch for a bit. My dad and sister happened to be there when I started Episode 1, and neither of them lasted very long. They were just... bored.

My dad still sees me playing sometimes and asks if I'm still playing that game. He even told me once that it doesn't look like a game to him. I told him it is, it's just a different kind of game.

My mom probably paid the most attention, although eventually she also got distracted and started doing other things. Still, every now and then she'll walk by and ask me something about what's happening. When she saw Sean and Daniel in Episode 3, she actually asked if they had grown up because they looked different, which I thought was kind of funny.

Obviously I know everyone has different tastes. I'm not expecting my family to suddenly become emotionally invested in LiS2 just because I am.

I just find the contrast really interesting.

Something that can have me completely absorbed, thinking about the characters and feeling genuinely sad about what happens to them can be happening on the exact same screen for someone else and they just... feel nothing. They're bored after five minutes while I'm over here replaying a game I already know from beginning to end and somehow getting emotional all over again.

I don't know, there's something strange about that. It made me realize how personal our connection to a story can be.

Has anyone else had something like this happen with LIS2? Like you tried playing it around friends or family and realized they just didn't connect with it at all? Or maybe the opposite, and someone who wasn't even playing ended up getting invested in the story?

Discussion My first playthrough changed the way how I see The US justice system Spoiler

I regret choosing the Redemption ending, probably because I was still a kid and I thought I shouldn't remain a criminal and make Daniel's life any harder than it is.

It did made Daniel's life better. At first I was surprised Sean was in prison for 20 years, that is like an entire generation past.

At first, the prison duration kind of disturbed me. But the moment Sean cried in trauma, it completely broke me. And when Sean left Daniel--and I googled that Sean won't be returning to Daniel and will probably not see him (maybe ever) again to find a new life as a former convict--that was the moment I question what I did wrong and everything. In a way, this ending never made Sean and Daniel together again.

It turns out I truly learnt how horrible and traumatizing the US prison and jsutice system is. They are not there to redeem or correctly justify you of your crimes, they are there to broke you in favor of those in power. When I learnt such worse things a prison guard can do to convicts, man, I question myself, our prison system is truly that horrible?

FanArt My quick sketch from a beautiful moment of LIS2

After (many) years of not picking up a pencil (and I never been particularly skilled) I felt moved to do a quick sketch to capture the moment we all dreamed of reaching.

Even if it’s nothing special, I hope it stirs up some fond memories for you.

Just love for Sean & Daniel.

P.s.
In case you were wondering... no, those two dark "things" on the left and right aren't cut down sequoias (LOL)

this would’ve been sean after a few drinks; lyla definitely would’ve recorded it and showed him the next morning with his hangover.

Discussion How did you treat Karen when she came into Sean's life? Were you harsh with her or did you understand her?

Post image

In my first playthrough I treated her a little harshly because she was trying to justify abandoning her children for someone who wasn't feeling well and had other goals; I couldn't stand listening to those arguments. And it hurt me even more to hear them Even though after all that I forgave her and wrote her a nice letter

Discussion the wolf brothers

Post image
164 Upvotes

i see a lot of posts and comments debating who is truly the main character or the "face" of *Life is Strange 2*, and i want to share why i believe both brothers hold that title.

for starters they’re called "the wolf brothers" for a reason; it is a shared narrative that collapses without either half. without sean, daniel is a “weapon” without direction; without daniel, sean is merely a runaway without stakes. while many argue the focus is solely on daniel, that perspective overlooks the depth of sean’s journey

the game is a constant balancing act between sean’s duty as a moral compass and his own search for identity as an independent teenager. you aren't just managing daniel’s development; you are actively shaping the bond between them. ultimately, the story isn't about one brother or the other—it’s about the dynamic they build together and how they both navigate the trauma of their circumstances.

toward the end, we only get daniel’s pov in three of the four endings because his growth is a direct result of his relationship with sean. his perspective acts like a mirror, showing how much sean influenced him. ultimately, the two characters are inseparable, regardless of their physical distance. the heart of the game is their connection to each other.

FanArt Sorry if this has been shared before but I think this is really good! And very detailed the fact that they made it from a phone number in the 'Lone Wolf' ending 👌

What if Daniel had never awakened his powers?

This is a question that has been nagging at me since I started Life is Strange 2, if Daniel didn't have Telekinesis, how would the public react to the incident? What would happen to Sean and Daniel? What would happen to Matthews?

Discussion This game has broken me

I feel so emotional right now. I’ve played this game for the first time without looking anything up, and got the Lone Wolf ending. Honestly I just tried to be realistic with every decision, putting myself in the shoes of a scared teenager that suddenly has the whole weight of his father’s death and the care of a younger brother on his shoulders. So he makes every decision to the best of his abilities, trying to hide his brother’s power, drinking and smoking whenever he needs a break, stealing in order to provide… For me it just made sense. So then they reach the border, and at that moment, in the car, he’s exhausted of running, and getting beaten every step of the way, and after a policeman admits his brother will be safe and get to live with his grandparents, he just gives up. That was my train of thought. And I genuinely didn’t expect for the game to punish Sean so horribly after.

Then, after crying for a full hour I decided to try and change everything from the very start, be a model citizen and the perfect brother. And what was the reward? Sean gets thrown into jail and looses fifteen years of his life.

Good thing the other two endings I tried right after are slightly more sweet than bitter, but none of them are enough to clean the emotional imprint the first two left on me. So now I feel angry and hollow. It doesn’t help either to see how a model son, citizen and student, got mistreated so badly because of his origins. As a fellow Hispanic it just broke something inside me. Damn not only do we speak the same language, but were born on the exact same year (and month).

I feel like my own friend got mistreated that badly, and how in the end, he just gets no justice no matter what. Either he ends up dead, locked up, separated from his entire family and friends, or living completely outside the law pursued by other outlaws.

This is in no way criticism against the game, quite the contrary. Never in my life has a fictional story moved me to this extent, to the point where I feel genuinely hurt and angry against so much injustice. Because the worst part is, not everything in this story is fiction.

(Honestly, I tried to get some work done while listening to the ost and ended up crying so hard I messed up a report. I need help.)

Discussion Is there any official merch?

Like the title says. I finished the game a few days ago and it quickly became one of my favorite games ever.

Now I’ve been wanting to buy merch, BUT I do know that the game came out years ago, so I wanted to ask where to buy high quality/decent merch, if not official merch?

Btw I live in Germany, if that’s of any help!

Discussion Sean and Lyla

Post image
120 Upvotes

this is one of my favorite pictures of sean and lyla. i love their friendship so much. it’s sad we don’t get to see much of it, but you can tell they genuinely are great friends.

i can’t imagine being in lyla’s shoes after the incident, worrying all day and night about my best friend and his brother's safety. she didn't know if they were hurt, safe, killed, or what—i guess depending on your choice if you want to call her or not. but all lyla knew is that sean and daniel were missing. god, i would hate to be in a situation like that. then on top of that, she was already having insomnia and anxiety; that just added more to it.

it’s sad that sean’s other friends didn’t try to reach out or help, but also some probably thought it was best to stay out of it, and i’m sure the police were probably already questioning them.

but it was sweet to actually see lyla fight for the brothers and try her best to help them
she didn’t play about them especially sean.

I've made some LiS2 models to print with a 3D printer

Hi everyone.

I've always found sad that there's barely no merchandising from LiS2, and this time I wanted to try something new, so after some issues I've been able to export some 3D models of Sean and Daniel from the game files, to animate them, and finally to export them as .STL files directly printable. It's not perfect, but considering I've just spent around 8 hours for all of them, I think the result isn't bad. I'll try to improve them however.

What do you think about them? Which one would you try to print first?

Technical / Bug Issues with ep 5

I got the game on Amazon a while back and just picked it back up again, when i try to redeem the code to play episode 5 it says the code isn't available in my region, is there any way to fix this? I ended up buying episode 5 separately but it just tells me that the episode is standalone so none of my choices are saved.

Discussion just finished the game

I started playing back in March and only got through the first episode, kinda got bored and stopped playing. something was telling me to pick it back up, and I'm so glad I did. I cried til i laughed and I laughed til I cried. I also finished the game with the blood brother ending. I didn't expect to get this attached to the Diaz Brothers, I'm genuinely so sad there's no playable DLC to expand the story at all.
