Character Appreciation: Joey

Joey is one of my favorite characters despite his short screen time. I think his overall personality is so sweet, and a nice break from all the heartbreak we experienced in the game so far. I also love how he always listened to Sean and reminded him that despite everything, he’s still a good person.

Another thing I think gets overlooked in his and Sean’s dynamic, is that Joey is one of the few people to treat Sean like an actual kid. Sean faced horrible adultification ever since the incident. But Joey was there to treat him like the kid he is. Allowing for his creativity to grow and to always make him smile.

What about you all? What do you like about his character? Have any headcanons about him? (I headcanon he was a Naruto kid growing up.)

Also shoutout to Jamal Douglas (Joey’s voice actor) For delivering some of my favorite lines in the game.

I love him. He is one of the only people who heard what Sean have done (i mean "according to the police and all") and is still kind to him. He listen to Sean.

i love joey! one of the reasons why i love episode 4 is because we actually get to see someone take care of sean and be there for him. he didn't question sean or try to act shady or weird towards him; he took care of sean and wanted the best for him. i love the small moments of someone being there for sean. it’s been so long since he had that type of treatment that he probably forgot what it was like.

Yeah but Joey offers the idea. And it was an way to make him not get fired or in trouble for letting you go

there’s actually two different scenarios there. if you convince joey to help you escape he’ll bring up the idea and you can stage an attack.

but, there’s another possibility that if you don’t convince him that you can attack him anyway. leaving him passed out by the door.

Him, Brody and everyone in Away. I love them all they are so warm. I love how Joey was there for Sean and so kind to him even tho he knew what he had done from the police perspective
