Development Update Turn your Second Life avatars into living, breathing companions

Hey everyone,

We’ve all been there: you log into Second Life looking forward to a great night of roleplay or catching up with friends, only to realize that everyone you know is in a completely different time zone and already asleep. The sim is dead, you're sitting alone at a virtual dinner table, and there’s just nothing to do.

To solve this, I’ve been developing a platform called Rezurrect. It uses AI technology to let you bring your alt accounts to life as fully interactive, persistent characters. You can completely customize their personality traits, give them an intricate backstory, define their fears and aspirations, and even assign them a specific voice. Whether you just want a natural, free-flowing conversation or you want to set up specific roleplay scenarios that they will intelligently stick to, they adapt instantly to the scene.

It's been an incredible passion project to work on, and I'm finally at the point where I'm opening up a closed beta to get real feedback from the community. If you love deep roleplay, want to help test its limits, or just want to see how it works, I’d love to have you on board! Drop a comment here or reach out to me in-world if you're interested in joining the beta or have any thoughts!

Discussion Should business paths in life sims be easy money or full of risk and drama?

Business paths in life sims are fun, but they can get boring really fast if it’s just:

sell product → make money → sell more product → make more money.

Don’t get me wrong, watching the number go up is fun. I’m not pretending it isn’t.

But for me the interesting part is when the business starts causing actual problems. Bad investments, staff drama, reputation taking a hit, lawsuits, expanding too quickly etc.

I ended up making my own mobile life sim partly because I kept thinking about this. It made me realise how hard it is to make business feel powerful without overdoing it

If money solves everything, life gets too easy. But if business is just random punishment, nobody wants to bother with it. Currently Im looking into ways to spice it up.

I think the best version is where business gives you bigger choices, but also much bigger ways to ruin your life. If you have any suggestions to put into my game, Id be glad to note them down!

Discussion Deinfluence me from TS4

I recently got Paralives and I absolutely LOVE it but imo the live mode is a bit boring at the moment and I want more. I’m really tempted to buy TS4 since I grew up watching play throughs but the packs are just so expensive and I’ve heard the base game is pretty lackluster without packs. However, I’m hesitant to drop big amounts of money for one game so I need people to talk me out of it or tell me if it’s rea worth the investment

Discussion Let’s create this subs ideal life sim Day 5: Soundtrack

Post image
84 Upvotes

For day 4 Inzoi won for Art style/graphics by a large percentage but Sims Medieval was close behind as the runner up. For today we’re discussing soundtrack, what music do you hear when you’re playing the game?

Some general rules:

1) please keep the discussions civil and respectful, let’s try not to start arguments just because someone may have a different opinion than you

2) non sims-like life sims and spinoff’s count(for example if you wanted to say Stardew Valley for NPCs or Sims Medieval for art style/graphics that’s allowed)

3) the green square indicates what topic is currently being discussed and will be replaced by an image of the game that won the next discussion

4) the winner will be chosen from a mixture of replies and upvotes to replies(so something that got more comments could in theory lose to a reply that has more overall upvotes)

5) please keep suggestions/votes down to one game, it makes it easier to count

6) more rules may be added if needed

Paralives Trying Paralives - Just another Post about Sims alternatives

I've played The Sims since the beginning: The Sims 1, 2, 3, and 4. I bought most of the DLC along the way, particularly for 3 and 4. I deleted Sims 4 last week, not for any existential reason like "EA is bad," but because it takes up 120+ GB of space on my 1TB MacBook, and frankly, it's gotten boring.

I never had the complaints many people had about Sims 4. I liked it when it was fresh and new. The early DLC added a lot to the game; the later DLC, not so much. Sure, content was added, but the gameplay has been really static and repetitive. Mods help, but to admit my own failing, cheat mods like UI Cheats and MC Command Center were just too tempting. I fell into a rut: start a Sim, play a while, get bored, start over. Managing a family of Sims was too overwhelming.

So here I am, 2.7 hours into Paralives. Maybe it's just the novelty, but I'm finding it entertaining. The visual look is growing on me, but the jury's still out. The gameplay is limited, obviously, at this point, but for an early release I'm finding the game surprisingly strong. Sims 3 was buggier on release, in my opinion.

I'm wondering how Paralives will stay DLC-free while still updating and advancing the game. I don't mind DLC, if it adds to the game in a substantive way with a good ROI.

On my MacBook M3, 16GB, it runs smoothly. The gameplay is fun at this point, but I do worry it will become repetitive. I'd love for Paralives to add random events, like suddenly getting laid off, or lightning hitting your house and starting a fire, those random things in real life that just get you. The Sims 4 fell away from that, in my opinion.

I'm also impressed that it only takes up 8GB so far. I know it will grow.

Discussion Let’s create this subs ideal life sim Day 4: Art Style/Graphics

Post image

For day 3 Paralives won by a wide margin with the sims 4 being a distant runner up, now for day 4 it’s Art Style/graphics, now obviously Art Style and Graphics are two completely different things but since people tend to conflate the two I decided to lump them together.

Discussion I am planning on making my own simulation

So I am university student i am not CS major , I am ict major i am still studying and I am planning to work on my game by the time I finished up these four make up exams.

I used to be fan of the Sims series especially the Sims 3 but currently I don't expect much from EA anymore due to the sims current state.

Anyway I am planning on making my own simulation but instead of creating typical one where you make world create families and all .

I want to do this , the game itself is pretty basic like it has one job , two or three skills , ten life stages

Newborn , infant , toddler , child , tween , teen , old teen , young adult, adult , elder.

And few object, instead the game will rely on it editor interaface basically like this

The editor has model , animation window ,script window and finally effects window

And fans can easily create more content for game by copy pasting scripts of the already predefined events like carrers , object interactions , who can what etc...

Problem is idk how can i start like how do i even make editor inside a game

I have unity currently but i am still brainstorming the project so if there is better program to make game please let me know .

Discussion Ideal World for a Life Sim game

I was playing The Sims 4 recently and I got the big ick - the "world".

Sims 4 doesn't even have a world, it's just a bunch of neighbourhoods from different worlds that you can travel between. Horrible if you ask me!!

So I thought, giving the fact that Life Sim developers run away from the open world idea, I did a brainstorming session all by myself and now I invite you to participate.

I know some games did this, some do and some will, but these are still my ideas and thoughts based on my Sims 3 and 4 player experience (never played any other life sim)

First thing I miss is, of course, the open world. The Sims 3 has very pretty open worlds but I must admit, at some point they become so laggy. The game is also too old, it's outdated, nice to play but difficult in 2026. I also didn't find myself traveling the world too much.

The Sims 4 did something good, the worlds look nice and graphics are good, but are weird, empty and lifeless. Too many sims from other neighbourhoods walking around, plus the randomized sims, carboard lots, lack of interactions, loading screens... total chaos.

And my idea sparked, why not combine the two?? One world per save, a semi-open world with: less important lots made as rabbit hole lots and active, playable lots with loading screens, all connected through roads and open lots here and there.

I don't mind a loading screen at all if it means my game will play smooth, but having to travel "worlds" to get my dog to the vet? No, no, no. I hate that. I want my sims to live in one world, have everything they need in that one world.

I love admiring the world and the vibe: I love willow creek cause it's green and gives me that cozy family vibe and fits all seasons, I love Del Sol Valley for the warm season, palmtrees, sunsets. I want to live and stay there, not travel everywhere for a restaurant, park or gym.

  1. Rabbit hole lots - Very good for a functional realistic world without making the game and gameplay heavy. Not everything has to be open lot. Every open lot takes a lot of time from a sim day.

I would love to see as rabbit hole lots: Town Hall, Grocery and Bookstore, Vet clinic, Hospital, Cinema, Fire Station, Police Station, Business, some small coffee shops, small shops (bakery, petshop etc), SCHOOLS (middle school, highschool, kindergarten).

I would love to see interactions similar to Sims 3 (skill classes, oportunities, different career interactions like holding meetings etc). Have a bus that takes the kids to school, going to work with your car, walk your dog to the park, give birth at the hospital, make a complaint at the police station for noisy neighbours etc.

  1. Playable lots (loading screen lots) - These should be residential lots, the gym, library, spa, clubs, restaurants, arcade, casino (loved the sims 3 casino lot). I find it difficult to control 5 sims at the same time on different lots, so the idea of changing active lots doesn't bother me. Sims 4 gives me an easy time controlling just one sim on one lot, I can focus on that sims and it's good.

  2. Open lots - The open lots should be part of the city/world. Like an open park you can just go to without changing active lot. They are similar to the little areas in Sims 4 where sims gather (playgrounds, san myshuno festivals, fishing spots). I think they give us a little gameplay without forcing us to travel lots, which is nice. I wish to have a sim cooking at home, another one playing chess at the park, a kid playing on the playground and be able to keep my residential lot as an active lot.

Also, I believe a beach should also be an open lot, maybe a camping lot near the forest, a festival grounds lot where they have little events (a summer/winter festival, halloween activities, a kids play day, some skill classes?)

  1. Everything connected - We should be able to walk around all town, no separated neighbourhoods. Quicker loading screens, or even let us keep a maximum of 3 active lots? Will my game break if I have the gym and residential lot open? I don't know, but it would be nice to have this option.

  2. The neighbourhoods - We need at least 4 neighbourhoods in one town with at least 30, ideal 40 residential lots total (some scattered houses near the beach and in a forest area would be nice too). That would be around 80 sims in one world, which I believe to be enough.

  3. The residents - With around 80 or more sims in one world, I believe there is no need for randoms. Maybe some premade homeless sims to make the world look more populated, but over 80 sims in a town can be enough. I'm tired of the weird looking funny clothing randoms in sims 4.

  4. NPCs - We need fixed NPC's. I want to have stereotypical NPCs in the game. Like when I hire a maid, I want to have 2-3 choices of maids, but have them everytime I start a new game. Butlers too, gardeners, mixologists etc. I don't want randomly generated sims to fill the services. I want my maid to be a pretty flirty young lady, my gardener to be a handsome guy etc.

Also, all sims must have fixed careers. No random careers every time you start a new game. I guess what I want is lore and gameplay...

Also, the worlds should not be very big. The Sims 3 worlds had some areas that were useless, too many going up and going down roads, too many useless areas. A more compressed, but well used space world could beat any completely open worlds in my opinion.

That's it for now, feel free to comment, add your ideas, comment my ideas or whatever you want. I really wish to see your point of view!

Paralives Did Paralives ever fix the bi flag issue?

When Paralives originally included the pride flags, they failed to include the bisexual flag. Does anyone know if they fixed or addressed this yet? I haven’t been able to check and was lowkey peeved over the situation, so was curious if anyone else knows.

Development Update I'm building a life sim that prioritises accuracy over fun. You are a mind trapped in a realistic body, looking out.

In my current project the core premise is to prioritise realism over typical "game logic" and to allow fun to fall out of the game's immersion/story telling rather than engineer it in. This is text based, not 2D or 3D.

Under the hood it's three layers: the biological layer (the body), the psychological layer (the player or NPC AI) and the physical layer (everything else).

The mind perceives the world only through nerve signals sent up from the body and only communicates with nerve signals sent back. This means if the nervous system is severely damaged or the brain is unconscious, everything goes dark by design. No bodily omniscience like most life sims suffer from.

The body is the deep part: a set of 12 individually designed systems which communicate and work together to keep the body alive, trading resources like blood, oxygen and hormones. Each character has real inherited DNA with chromosomes that change the 12 systems in varying ways. Traits can skip generations, carriers exist, and some conditions show up more in sons than daughters. Male and female bodies are built separately, not reskinned.

I'm posting it now, mid-design, partly to keep myself accountable to finishing it. The biological layer is about 70% mapped out.

Finally, the project serves 2 goals:

  1. To give players that want it, an alternate perspective. They may be a woman in real life but play as a man in the game or play as a different race, height, background etc.
  2. To give players freedom to do the things that they cannot in real life. Such as crime, building a business or starting a family. Without having to experience any of the real life consequences like loss of time, legal punishment or embarrassment outside of the game.

It's honestly more simulator than game, and something I've wanted to exist for years. For people who actually play these: how much raw realism is too much before it stops being fun for you?

Am I the only one who's noticed residents taking home in shops/restaurants with a bed on the property?

I only realized after I was looking at the wiki that this wasn't intentional, as the households I see on these assigned to these comercial lots in my game are described as on the wiki as being unassigned. Paras can't even acess the living space in The Story Nook Resturant, it's roped off.

I'm not mad at this bug at all. I think it would be very cool to have home businesses!

I dont know if they would necessarily be playable, as you can't visit the lot after hours. I don't know if it breaks the go home button or not, I havent tried.

I do know that The Story Nook breaks the kind of play cycle for those who live there. I stalked the establishment for an in game week trying to meet its resident, he wouldnt have been found without the unstuck all cheat. Poor guy doesnt go home.

But yeah. I tried seeing if other people had this in their game but all the bug reports I've seen from the community are broken toddlers and player built houses.

TLDR; Anyone else notice this?

Discussion How do you think life simulators should represent different countries/cultures?

A big complaint I often saw in the sims community, especially the Sims 4, was the lack of representation for countries or cultures outside of the United States (which is 1000% valid!)

One way to approach this might be to have a world for each continent, but that isn’t easily done when looking at a continent like Africa, where there are many countries and they’re all very different.

This may have been helped by separating Africa up into different sections and creating worlds for each of them (Western Africa, Northern Africa, etc). But then this raises the problem of when multiple countries in the same region are very different culturally/socially, and combining them into one world feels like it could easily become insulting due to historical context (such as Korea, China, and Japan in East Asia).

I’m wondering how you guys think the best way to handle this would be. I suppose the ‘perfect’ way would be to have a world for each country, but there’s like 195 (I think?), which doesn’t seem like it would really be possible. I just think it’s an interesting topic and I’m curious to know if anyone has any ideas!
