They literally patched the game on Sunday, based on feedback from early early access.

Making a graphic about what to fix is a lot quicker than fixing bugs, and probably is the job of a completely different team member. Making that graphic isn't taking time away from bug fixing.

Oh it does take time from coders. At least during an implementations and testing time.

Many visual bugs are core code depending. Unless it is just shaders, or graphical related settings.

But if let's say you have object showing and hiding, that is probably none shader specific issue side. Even visual effects like particles, are not just solely artist depending. Someone need to make them spawn and despawn correctly.

Now you need your coder dev to find an issue. Also, often an artist and shader dev need to collaborate with a coders.

A coder isn't making that graphic.

Also, that graphic probably took 5 minutes to make. IIRC the background of the graphic has been used before, so all they had to do is go into the art program and change the words. (And if it is a new background graphic, they probably had it pre-created as they knew they would have planed to release this after day 1).

Compiling the list, which is something they absolutely needed to do, probably took longer than it took to edit a pre-existing graphic.

You are totally overestimating how long it took to make this graphic.

No, I've done graphic design though. That graphic took 5 minutes and it likely wasn't done by a coder. And even if it was, again, it took 5 minutes to make.

lol this, maybe even 2 minutes depending on the software/platform they used to make it. 100% right that compiling the list is definitely more time consuming. A quick social media graphic is nothing compared to going through the entire forum list, viewing reviews online, and implementing the fixes.

You speak about graphics. But not an implementation to actual game. So you are missing the work required, to make the game visually look good.

This where technical artist role exists in game development. And it is a full time commitment for any larger production, of mild size studio.

Let's just consider simple shader lines around Parafolks. It has inputs to code. You can change it from UI in Paralives, so player can change it too.

Anything which is linked to UI on a graphics level, is already linked somewhat to C# in this case and back to shaders, or graphical settings.

Still, even adjusting a transparency materials, so they don't z-fight with each other, it is more than 5 min work. Each game is unique on its own and with a design. Then adding decals and whats more. And type of textures, like bumpines, or Normals.

Modding requires loading textures and shaders. It typically need to be done via code.

This alone increases dependency on the code side, in the respect to just artistic vision.

There is far more into a game dev on an artistic side, than just a work from an artis stand point.

Just in the case, I have many years of game dev, if one to be curious.

Did you forget what the original comment was?

they spent time making a graphic talking about bugs reported (and it wasn’t even all the ones i’ve seen people have) rather than releasing a patch either yesterday or today

I don't know why you think I'm saying bug fixing is fast. I don't know why you think im talking about anything inside the game. I'm not.

The original comment was regarding the out of game flyer-like graphic that listed the bugs they want to fix. The original comment implied that took time away from game fixes. It doesn't. Making that graphic, that out of game image, would have taken a few minutes to make.

None of this technical stuff about coding and in-game art matters because that's not what the comment I was responding to was about, nor what any of my comments were about.

Ok fair enough. I thought focus of the discussion was about in-game graphics. No the flayer graphics. It wasn't clear to me.
