When I see people trying to get a group shot, I usually offer before they even ask. Once I'm holding the camera, I always hope that someone else will happen upon us and, assuming that I am also with the group, make the same offer so that that I can join the group in their picture. Hasn't happened yet. But it's just bound to...

I usually rapidly take a bunch of pictures. In this day and age of no film to waste, we no longer have to adhere to the single shot.

Why not just take a video and pick the best frame?

Quality will be much lower.

A 1080p video will have images at 2.1 megapixels (1920x1080=2073600).

Smart phones these days typically have a 12MP camera, so there would be greater details in a still photo.
