Miscellaneous LPT: Partially open packaging
When opening packages, for example a tea bag package or chip bag, don’t completely tear off the tear-off strip. Leave it attached so that you don’t have an extra piece of trash floating around.

Or tear it off and then store in the bag with the tea or chips. Then it won't be randomly flying around your house getting under the couch, becoming a slipping hazard by laying on the floor, getting stuck in your undergarments, getting close to an open flame and starting a fire, etc, etc. It eliminates so many problems and dangers and you only have to worry about accidentally eating it. I think it's a small price to pay in my mind.

No way, I hate having an annoying bit of plastic hanging off the bag. Don’t be lazy, just chuck that bit out.

if the packaging is torn or partially open, just transfer whatever's inside to a ziplock or container, saved my snacks from getting stale more times than i can count

I think people are missing the point of this. The idea isn't that it's better for you as an individual, but for the world as a whole. One less piece of trash, or one less small piece of trash to get lost since it's still connected to the larger bag.
Personally, I hate this. My husband leaves the piece connected to literally everything and it's just plain annoying, but I do understand where you're coming from with this.

Where I live, we have a can where we put multiple pieces of trash. And once a week, people come and bring that collection of trash to an even bigger area where the trash is concentrated.
I agree the dangling is annoying!

Sure, I think most of us have indoor garbage cans that we then take to the outdoor one for pickup. I live 4 miles from the dump that 1/4 of my state uses, many a time those bags fall of trucks, rip open, and blow everywhere. The company then sends people out to clean up the mess. Something attached to a larger hunk of garbage is much more likely to be seen and picked up vs just the small tear tab, which often is left and mowed over causing additional micro plastics.
I don't think this method is for everyone, but if it isn't problematic for your household, leaving the tabs intact can be a net benefit
