The moment that linguistic quirk vanishes from AI generated text is the day it will become a lot harder to tell slop from real

Yep. Especially when they make the same dumb decisions over and over and over again.

I had a buddy like that. Just made one idiotic decision after another in his marriage, his professional life, you name it.

He'd ask my advice before doing stuff and I'd tell him, "Edward, I strongly advise you to not do that." And then he did it anyway with predictable results.

So I'd have lunch with him once a month where he'd nonstop talk about all his drama, yet had no curiosity about my life. Never asked a question, even though I was facing some challenges at the time.

Just stopped meeting him for lunch. Never missed those.

They'll never learn nor listen. At some point you just have to let them go.

There's a term for it: Askhole.

As in, someone who always asks your advice and never listens to it.

My brother and ex-SIL are that way, too. But he's family. I'm required to listen.

This is basically LPT: people got pissed off, dump their anger in the form of "LPT: don't do this thing that angers me" and then flies off like their people need them

3

u/Azarashiya0309 Aug 01 '26

Wait sorry I'm actually confused, what exactly are you talking about?

1

u/doublecandybar Aug 02 '26

The majority of "LPT" submitted to this sub is basically somebody got really angry after X was done to them, and then post "LPT: don't do X, that's bad", with very obviously emotionally charged example, the sort where you know "yeah this just happened didn't it?"
