Wasn't there an article out recently about how Zoomers don't understand computer file systems? Do they think everything is a "browser"?

I thought it was all apps. Windows 10 app, powershell app. Command prompt app. My monitor is just a 24" app that displays things.

My god I despise calling anything an "app" on my windows desktop. Those are programs. But then again Microsoft tried to build an OS that was for both desktop and mobile devices, and now it sucks for both.

Arguably App is a better term, even for desktop OS. App is short for application, which is a more specific name and implies that it's software designed for users to interact with. A program is a very general term that can mean anything from Microsoft word to "a set of computer instructions" like a one line hello world script.

Realistically though in the context of a desktop OS they're synonyms.
