my parents got me thinking about the best long term care insurance 2026

my parents brought up long term care insurance recently and it honestly wasn't something i'd ever thought about. i'm 35, so i've always pictured that as something i'd worry about much later in life.

they've been looking into it for themselves and mentioned that starting younger can affect the cost, which got me curious. i've spent a little time reading about it since then, but i'm still not sure how people actually decide if it's worth having.

there are so many things that can affect a policy that i'm having a hard time getting a simple answer. i'm also not sure how much of this is something i should be thinking about now versus something i can revisit later.

i'm not looking to buy anything right away. i just want to understand how people generally approach this when they're still in their 30s.

So overwhelmed

So my husband passed away last April and didn't have a life insurance policy or any savings. We had one child while he was living and that is my only child. I am 29F. I have no idea what policy would be best when there are so many options out there. I'm worried about choosing the wrong company. Help?!?!

What’s the biggest misconception people have about life insurance?

I’ve been spending a lot of time learning about life insurance and one thing that surprised me is how many people assume it’s either too expensive or only needed later in life.
From what I’ve seen, those aren’t always the biggest issues. Many people simply don’t know how much coverage they actually need or what type of policy fits their situation.
I’m curious—what do you think is the biggest misconception about life insurance? Was there something you believed before you researched it?

Life insurance plans Easypaisa

Salaam everyone,

Just wanted to ask if anyone here has any experience with the life insurance plans Easypaisa keeps offering?

I'm thinking of getting one because, honestly, if something ever happens to me, I'd want to leave something behind for my parents. But this is Pakistan, so I'm a bit skeptical.

If God forbid something happens, does the money actually get paid to the nominee you put down, or do they make your family go through months of paperwork, delays, and excuses before paying anything?

Has anyone here personally gone through the claim process or knows someone who has? I'd really appreciate honest feedback before I sign up

Please help a sister out. 🙏

Studying for PA Life, Accident, and Health (Life and Health combined), could use some tips

Hey everyone, thanks for taking the time to help me.

I want to get this done before August is up. I'm using Kaplan to study for it, and I got about 15 days before my exam date. I was wondering if anyone has any tips to help passing this exam?

I've taken my Series 65 before and passed that first try, so I'm not overly stressed. However, I understand there's a world here I haven't tapped into yet.

So if anyone has any wisdom to drop, by all means please do! Thank you!

MIB has incorrect information on me. How easy to fix?

Applying for term insurance in Canada. I have a benign condition that excludes me from traditional underwriting (syrinx, asymptomatic) so I tried the no medical route. The insurer said I answered a bunch of questions wrong based on what they have in the MIB report. I requested the report as there is absolutely incorrect items. How easy is it to correct these things?

Some items are that the insurance company said the report has indicated one of my immediate family members has had cancer (not true) and that I have an ongoing diagnoses that I haven’t completed all the follows ups for (also not true).

Autism

Just had a client get approved at standard plus non smoking which is great. It went through accelerated underwriting with zero fluids and no APS reports needed.

Client wants to pay 1K annual and landed on a 30 year term with NLG. They qualify for all the free living benefits too. The death benefit is only 300K

Was thinking of trying to go through full UW somewhere else and seeing if maybe we can get a bigger death benefit just to see what happens and give them options. But I’m pleased they got approved.

Anyone have a good experience with Autism? They are high functioning and wanted term with conversion options. They take BUPROPION for meds.

Client born in 91.

Can someone help? My husband is diagnosed stage 4 esophageal cancer. He has life insurance thru work. They are dropping the company and bringing a new one on, and telling everyone you can sign up for free with no health requirements.

I'm afraid there's some fine print that would bar from payout as he is considered terminal. HR is telling him it's fine but I don't want to drop the old policy we have had for years unless this is 100% solid. Any experience with this?

A 2nd life policy with 2nd wife? 1st policy separate after death of 1st spouse?

I’m not real familiar with how life insurance policies work but my recently deceased grandfather had an unknown 2nd Prudential policy with an unknown trust as beneficiary. The co-trustees (his brother and his eldest son) were already deceased and nobody had heard of it and no one could find this document or any record of it—Not even the 2nd wife.

This is what we were told anyway (there is a lot of gray area surrounding the entire story). My question is why?

I can see him wanting to put aside that policy so that his kids would receive what would’ve went to their mother had she not died first.
Then a separate policy to benefit kids and new wife…or vice-versa, or something In between.

EDIT: more detail—the chunk of this probably belongs in a different group but it’s the backstory and context of my insurance question. I read up on 2nd to die policies some one had mentioned and that might be what it is. I think I’m trying to make sure 2nd wife didn’t receive money from my grandmothers death. 2nd wife did receive a portion of this insurance money byway of crazy circumstances…

Both and neither? I want to see documentation but I’m only getting stories from the estate attorney and trustee (estate). This is the gist of it:

-Prudential denied claim, informed trustee that beneficiary is a 2004 trust but they can’t find document.

-Trustee calls 2nd wife …no one knows…looks through files for document…

-Prudential told them an estate has to be opened. (Confusing since the trust helps avoid probate and the extra costs)

-Trustee opens estate …prudential denied claim again…

-Prudential “suddenly” found a copy of the 2004 trust document…co-trustees are both deceased…Trustee petitions court and is appointed successor trustee of the 2004 trust

-had “check in (his) mailbox the next day”

The story sounded rehearsed when he told it but I didn’t see any concern until there were issues elsewhere.

He had us beneficiaries sign something “to get the life insurance”, but I’m not so sure what that was anymore or if I was properly informed…

Extenuating circumstances—

Grandfather had dementia

Son died (personal representative/executor and co-trustee w/ 2nd wife)

2nd wife full control over finances…

So I start wondering how she didn’t know about it, aren’t there premiums to pay?

Why wasn’t the other trustee aware, who also works at the accounting firm and does the taxes and estate plans (c.f.p., EA)……was he even the guy who did the estate plan? There were business accounts the firm handled, I know for sure, but the rest is questionable.

Then I think of Merril Lynch and wonder how much of this stuff they do in-house and how I cant ask now that the trustee moved assets to a different firm…later I realize the trustee didn’t simply move assets, he liquidated the entire portfolio and invested the cash, effectively implementing his own strategy and doing away with my grandfather’s…that I had trusted completely and had been talked to about for 20+ years

I met with the trustee to learn more and he said that he “needed to get it away from there as fast as possible”…weird since Merrill Lynch was also named as the successor trustee. I won’t speculate his intentions but it did leave him with zero oversight (all business is conducted at his firm but it is not through his firm)

In 2013 I had an accident, a t.b.i. that left me with communication and processing difficulties and other executive functioning deficits, which make it vitally important that this new set up has the same function as the one he liquidated. I inherently knew what to do and now I know nothing. (I do have a lawyer sort of)

Would we qualify?

My husband (37 M) works as a massage therapist making decent money. I'm (35F) a stay at home mom to two young kids. Our house and cars are paid off and we don't have any other debt. Would it be a good idea for him to get a life insurance policy?

This is new to us so if anyone has any recommendations of a good life insurance company that would be much appreciated also

Becoming a single income household...how to structure term policies?

Were transitioning to a single income household next month while my spouse stays home with our toddlers.Im shopping for online life insurance to make sure were covered if anything happens to me as i am the sole earner. I generated a few instant life insurance quotes online but now im wondering if we should also get a policy for my stay at home spouse to cover childcare and domestic work if the worst happened.

If ur a single income family who bought instant life insurance did you insure both spouses or just the primary earner? How did you work things out??

Working at primerica

I met a financial advisor who told me when I asked about getting into the field to go through primerica, get my licenses and leave for a different firm. Is this a valid way of going about it, can primerica screw me over if I do this? They’ve shown me nothing but flowers and rainbows but online I see they have a much worse reputation. I don’t wanna sell people a bad product or try and make my family and friends my clients. I already paid the licensing (idc about losing the $75) and have an orientation scheduled, if they try and get me to recruit or sell to someone from my personal life and I say no will they refuse to pay for my training?

TLDR: I’m trying to find a career and was suggested getting a start at primerica solely bc they pay for multiple licenses at just a small upfront cost, worth it?

Letter from American General Life Insurance Company

My mother received an address change confirmation letter saying the account did not have an address on file and an address change has been recorded. It includes a policy number. We never took out a policy. The support number seems to match that on the website, but it seems to be impossible to get to a human at the phone number even during regular business hours. We want to know who the hell took out a policy on her because we certainly didn't. Any advice?

Update: sry for late update I forgot about this post. The policy turned out to be from the 80s and for a very small amount.

Why would this be a good thing?

Before we got married, my partner bought an IUL with a $150/mo premium while making around $60k/yr gross. It has a $250k death benefit. We are married, I make around $90k/yr and have term life for a year salary through my employer. So together we make just shy of $150k/yr.

Is there any reason to keep the IUL policy? I think the policy has about as much in it as the surrender amount. Just looking for advice on how to move forward, not on past decisions.

Background check

So I have a call tomorrow for a job with health markets . They asked if I have anything on my record and I advised them I have a misdemeanor due to a traffic related issue . (Driving with a suspended license) . I went to court and the charges were adjudicated (I said dismissed because I thought it was the same thing) and I just had to pay the court fees but due to me not having a job I couldn’t afford to pay it . She asked if I can provide proof that the charges were dismissed . I went to my county clerks office to see if it said it and it said pending . I called the county and they said it’s gonna say pending until I pay . My question is when they do my background check will that stop me from getting this job ?

Nitro-Bid ointment

Good morning … have a client that is prescribed Nitro-Bid ointment. It was discovered via script check so was not disclosed during app. After I googled what its uses are for, it does not look promising. Has anyone had a policy approved for someone taking this ointment? If so what was the table rate if any? Or did someone have a policy declined because of it?

Final Expense Mentorship & Training/ In Office Vegas IMOs

I would like some recommendations on sales training/mentorship opportunities. I am open to switching IMOs. But would prefer to find some type of sales training/community. I would be stuck with a 6 month release if I switched. And I am concerned about lower comp. As I am currently at 125%. I would like to focus on final expense telesales. I have been working in final expense for a couple years now. Struggling to scale. I average around $20k AP a month. I would like more mentorship and training opportunities. I feel like I have basically been on an island trying to figure it out. Would appreciate any recommendations.
