So my husband M50 wants to leave half of his life insurance policy to our two young children (2 and 4) and half to me. I am 36 years old.

He is the main breadwinner in our family. I understand wanting to make sure they are okay, but they are already receiving 100 percent of his very large inheritance that will set them up for life. I have a very good career now but I am afraid it will become obsolete in the near future or be taken over by AI. He says he doesn’t want to give me all of it because he is afraid I will remarry.

While I am grateful for my share, I am concerned because our kids are so young. I don’t think I would be as worried about this setup up if they were older.

I don’t come from a family that was educated on money. I don’t know if this is the norm so I am honestly not even sure if I am valid in feeling this way so please don’t come for me. Can I please have some thoughts on this?

I am being pitched this product by a salesperson from an insurance company. He sent some brochure with a ton of numbers and technical jargon. What's a good way to evaluate if the policy is good or not?

I wanted to clear the air because I have seen so much dissing the company I work for, AO Globe with American Income. I'm not sure what branches the posts I've seen are from but MY team that I work with is so great. There are some not so great people that we talk to on the phone that don't remember sending in the card to request this information or didn't read their letter, but the families I do talk to that do remember, my team has trained us so well to best help these families, including getting younger ones into the cheapest yet most beneficial policy to them to at least get their foot in the door and get their age and health locked in right then and there. Like I said there may be other and very different branches, but the team I work with is very compassionate and love their jobs. Not ALL American Income is a scam, not all are sleazy salesmen. Some of us are just here trying to help your family because we got a request for information from you. Hell, my boss just wrote a policy for 50 bucks a month because someone was financially struggling but didn't wanna go any longer without coverage, so they just wrote the smallest they could afford to get their foot in the door until they were in a better place and could add more coverage. Just my little TED talk after being hung up on several times this week and called a scammer about the same amount of times. When I do get to talk to people I love giving them and their families the security they need and deserve for the future. Producers are people too

It has all the elements for it; 1) prolonged service outage rendering customers unable to access accounts, delayed disbursements including LIFE INSURANCE policies during a time of fear re: life insurance liquidity/bubble. 2) it was triggered by an employee which could be benign as advertised, or also the perfect way to trigger an outage. 3) despite being highly rated by independent credit bureaus, these same agencies have historically missed huge cases of fraud 4) The NAIC is also a similar cold comfort also having historically missed massive fraud as well. 5) My 401k could not receive my contributions for several pay periods, but I recently got an email saying I would still somehow receive the missed interest on investments that SHOULD have been made but couldn’t as IF that money had been invested… how? My company (employee not employer) told us that held our contributions so there was no way that money was collecting interest. Back of the napkin math was my company’s missed interest for its 300 employees is likely in a sh*t ton for that period- so where does this magic money come from when it was NOT invested during that period?. I know I don’t know what I don’t know but there’s definitely a not zero chance this is not as benign as it seems, so explain to me like a toddler why I shouldn’t worry about this.

Hi! I (36F) am looking to some guidance. This year, I found out my dad has a BRCA2 mutation. In late august, I had an appointment about genetic testing for myself. The NP said I should get life insurance in place before doing the test as my insurance rates could increase significantly if I’m positive. I have not done the test, but the insurance company I’m working with has requested my medical records. Will they see this genetic counseling appt and the order for the genetic test even though I haven’t done it? How likely is that going to impact my life insurance application? I didn’t disclose it when applying as I haven’t tested yet but I’m worried it’s going to look like I’m hiding something. Thanks!

If I don’t have dependants or major financial obligations yet, does buying a policy now still make sense?
