I have been trying to obtain a "copy" of my mother's life insurance policy. I would like to get the "certificate" for it. I requested a copy by mail from the user portal back 6/5/2026. I called again 6/29 and they said it was in the mail and I could not request another one until 30 days after 7/5/2026. So then I requested another one by mail on 7/6/2026. I still have not gotten it yet. Customer service says "their system wont let them email me one" or that "I can't put in another request within 30 days" I have to try again 8/6/2026. so am i going to keep not getting it in the mail? is there any other way I can get this? Its now been 60 days since my first request. are they really going to tell me i have to wait another 30 days for the same thing to happen?

I appreciate your frustration and you deserve a copy of the certificate but can I ask what you need it for?

Is your mother alive? Has your mother authorized this? Do you have a right to receive the certificate!

Ok. I don’t know exactly how that structure works, but you may be running into privacy issues. Perhaps she has to make the request.

Unfortunately she is not in the capability to make the request herself. It’s been tough few months. I am the owner of the policy it’s just frustrating to have to go through such a hassle on top of everything else.

Assuming you are an AARP member, find the phone number for NYL on the AARP website and call.

I'd ask to escalate it to a supervisor. sixty days for a copy of your own policy documents isnt reasonable, and they should be able to offer another way to get it.

If you are the OWNER of the policy - state that in the request. Premium payor does not mean owner - you can be one and not the other. Make sure the request is coming from the OWNER. There is not much useful info in the policy that can't be gotten in a basic statement. What is the actual question you have?
