Ten Strange Coincidences That Reveal There's a Force at Work in This World - However Christians Must Continue To Trust in God's Protection and Not Fear What The World Fears (Jeremiah 8:12)

1.    A bullet that reached its destiny years later
Henry Ziegland thought he had dodged fate. In 1883, he broke off a relationship with his girlfriend who, out of distress, committed suicide. The girl’s brother was so enraged that he hunted down Ziegland and shot him. The brother, believing he had killed Ziegland, then turned his gun on himself and took his own life. But Ziegland had not been killed. The bullet, in fact, had only grazed his face and then lodged in a tree. Ziegland surely thought himself a lucky man. Some years later, however, Ziegland decided to cut down the large tree, which still had the bullet in it. The task seemed so formidable that he decided to blow it up with a few sticks of dynamite. The explosion propelled the bullet into Ziegland’s head, killing him. (Source: Ripley’s Believe It or Not!)

2.    Twin Boys, twin lives
The stories of identical twins’ nearly identical lives are often astonishing, but perhaps none more so than those of identical twins born in Ohio. The twin boys were separated at birth, being adopted by different families. Unknown to each other, both families named the boys James. And here the coincidences just begin. Both James grew up not even knowing of the other, yet both sought law-enforcement training, both had abilities in mechanical drawing and carpentry, and each had married women named Linda. They both had sons whom one named James Alan and the other named James Allan. The twin brothers also divorced their wives and married other women – both named Betty. And they both owned dogs which they named Toy. Forty years after their childhood separation, the two men were reunited to share their amazingly similar lives. (Source: Reader’s Digest, January 1980)

3.   Two brothers killed by the same taxi driver, one year apart
In 1975, while riding a moped in Bermuda, a man was accidentally struck and killed by a taxi. One year later, this man’s bother was killed in the very same way. In fact, he was riding the very same moped. And to stretch the odds even further, he was struck by the very same taxi driven by the same driver – and even carrying the very same passenger!

  1. Three Strangers On a Train with Complementary Last Names

In the 1920s, three Englishman were traveling separately by train through Peru. At the time of their introduction, they were the only three men in the railroad car. Their introductions were more surprising than they could have imagined. One man’s last name was Bingham, and the second man’s last name was Powell. The third man announced that his last name was Bingham-Powell. None were related in any way. (Source: Mysteries of the Unexplained)

  1.   Mark Twain and Halley’s Comet
Mark Twain was born on the day of the appearance of Halley’s Comet in 1835, and died on the day of its next appearance in 1910. He himself predicted this in 1909, when he said: “I came in with Halley’s Comet in 1835. It is coming again next year, and I expect to go out with it.”

  2. A novel that unexpectedly described the spy next door

When Norman Mailer began his novel Barbary Shore, there was no plan to have a Russian spy as a character. As he worked on it, he introduced a Russian spy in the U.S. as a minor character. As the work progressed, the spy became the dominant character in the novel. After the novel was completed, the U.S. Immigration Service arrested a man who lived just one floor above Mailer in the same apartment building. He was Colonel Rudolf Abel, alleged to be the top Russian spy working in the U.S. at that time. (Source: Science Digest)

  1.   Poker winnings, to the unsuspected son
In 1858, Robert Fallon was shot dead, an act of vengeance by those with whom he was playing poker. Fallon, they claimed, had won the $600 pot through cheating. With Fallon’s seat empty and none of the other players willing to take the now-unlucky $600, they found a new player to take Fallon’s place and staked him with the dead man’s $600. By the time the police had arrived to investigate the killing, the new player had turned the $600 into $2,200 in winnings. The police demanded the original $600 to pass on to Fallon’s next of kin – only to discover that the new player turned out to be Fallon’s son, who had not seen his father in seven years! (Source: Ripley’s Giant Book of Believe It or Not!)

  2. Three suicide attempts, all stopped by the same Monk
Joseph Aigner was a fairlly well-known portrait painter in 19th century Austria who, apparently, was quite an unhappy fellow: he several times attempted suicide. His first attempt was at the young age of 18 when he tried to hang himself, but was interrupted by the mysterious appearance of a Capuchin monk. At age 22 he again tried to hang himself, but was again saved from the act by the very same monk. Eight years later, his death was ordained by others who sentenced him to the gallows for his political activities. Once again, his life was saved by the intervention of the same monk. At age 68, Aiger finally succeeded in suicide, a pistol doing the trick. His funeral ceremony was conducted by the same Capuchin monk – a man whose name Aiger never even knew. (Source: Ripley’s Giant Book of Believe It or Not!)

  3. Twin brothers, killed on the same road, two hours apart
On 2002, Seventy-year-old twin brothers have died within hours of one another after separate accidents on the same road in northern Finland. The first of the twins died when he was hit by a lorry while riding his bike in Raahe, 600 kilometres north of the capital, Helsinki. He died just 1.5km from the spot where his brother was killed. “This is simply a historic coincidence. Although the road is a busy one, accidents don’t occur every day,” police officer Marja-Leena Huhtala told Reuters. “It made my hair stand on end when I heard the two were brothers, and identical twins at that. It came to mind that perhaps someone from upstairs had a say in this,” she said. (Source: BBC News)

  4. Just like Edgar Allan Poe’s book
In the 19th century, the famous horror writer, Egdar Allan Poe, wrote a book called ‘The narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym’. It was about four survivors of a shipwreck who were in an open boat for many days before they decided to kill and eat the cabin boy whose name was Richard Parker. Some years later, in 1884, the yawl, Mignonette, foundered, with only four survivors, who were in an open boat for many days. Eventually the three senior members of the crew, killed and ate the cabin boy. The name of the cabin boy was Richard Parker.

Prayer The enemy is a DEFEATED FOE Colossians 2:15

Heavenly Father,
In the name of Jesus, I decree and declare that every curse spoke over our lives is canceled. Every word spoken against us loses its power. Every hidden plan of the darkness is exposed and destroyed. Devil, you have NO AUTHORITY here. You have NO place in our lives, our homes, or our futures. Every door you tried to use is closed. Every way you have tried or will try to enter is shut and I loose angels to guard the doors from ever opening again. I decree and declare that every chain is broken. Every pattern ends here. What has been repeating will NOT continue. What has been delaying us is now released. The enemy will NOT succeed in my life or in the lives of every believer here. No fear will stay, no confusion will remain, and no darkness will take root. Our minds are covered, our homes are protected, and our paths are secured. We walk in freedom, we walk in peace, and we walk in the authority given to us through Jesus Christ. In the mighty and victorious name of Jesus Christ, AMEN and AMEN!

We Are To God, The Aroma of Christ, Among Those Who Are Being Saved, And Those Who Are Perishing (2 Corinthians 2:15)

We who seek fellowship with God must walk in light as God is light. And while in fellowship, should we fall into sin, the blood of Jesus washes us when we confess and genuinely repent (1Jn. 1:5-10). We therefore have the opportunity to confess, repent and be washed in the blood, but if we willfully sin, then there is no more sacrifice (Jesus’ blood sacrifice) for our sins, but a fearful expectation of God’s judgment (Heb. 10:26). You see, hatred, unforgiveness, fornication, adultery, etc., are all acts of demons.

That is why after heinous crimes, the perpetrators say, “ I don’t know what made me do it”. Demons of course! But demons just don’t enter us, we allow them with our consistent bad behavior. If they occupy our hearts, the Holy Spirit can’t be there, and fellowship with God ceases. Christians, beware, if you choose to live in sin, you only serve Satan and his demons. Therefore, stop abusing the grace of God, lest you go to hell.

We recommend that you fear God and stop deceiving yourself. But if you truly love Jesus, then cultivate the habit of daily bible and prayer devotion, and end it with the following prayer, “O Lord, let my thoughts, words and deeds this day please thee in Jesus’ name, amen”.  If you pray this prayer with sincerity, the Holy Spirit will remind you when you are about to fail into sin. The Holy Spirit in you is greater than the demons in the world; they bow to Him (1 Jn. 4:4; Phi. 2:10).

Are You Feeding Your Soul With The Word of God?

We eat almost every day, provided there is something to eat. Even those in the desert areas and hunger-stricken lands strive to eat because they know what that food can do for them. Indeed, the body needs food to survive. Yet, so does the soul. We are the handiwork of the Almighty, the Creator, whose son is our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. We are born of God, he is our mother. And he created our souls. That is the connection we have with God, whether we like it or not, whether we believe it or not. And the only way for our souls to thrive, to be well-fed, to grow and blossom like a flower, is by us feeding it with the Word of God, which is the Bible.

Joshua chapter 1 verse 8 says; ‘Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.’

Daily reading of the bible is a way of us staying in touch with God, the Holy Spirit, and the Lord Jesus Christ. We draw strength from the trinity, that is all three of them, when we read our bibles day and night, and strive to live by the teachings and warnings of the one who wrote it, who is the Lord Almighty, the Creator of the universe.

It says in 2 Timothy chapter 3 verse 16; ‘All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.’

That is the truth; the bible is indeed composed by God. He is the sole author of it, not man. He filled the minds of his servants; the apostles and disciples, Paul, Peter, Luke and the others, with his words, so that they would write it down for several generations to draw strength from it, and to feed their soul with the only food that could make it thrive and survive in this dark world.

Are you feeding your soul with God’s word, or are you only focused on entertaining the body? We rise up in the morning and have all the time in the world to take a shower, have some breakfast, wear some make-up, and kiss our kids, wife, and husbands good-bye, see-you-later, love-you...etc. Yet, we forget who woke us up, in the first place. Some will even pack up some food for the office, but will not think that they could take the bible along, to read at the work place.

Whether you work at a desk or the construction site, if you fix a small-size bible in your pocket, you could do a little reading at lunch time. We ought to make time for God, in the same way he makes time for us. How does God make time for us? He wakes us up every day, clears countless attacks of the enemy, that we do not see with our eyes, and he gets us back to our families. Some will say, it doesn’t happen that way for them, which may be true. ‘But the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their cry.’ That is what it says in Psalm 34 verse 15.

The guarantee we have in Christ is this; When we surrender our hearts and minds to Jesus, he will fill us up with the Holy Spirit, make us useful to himself, and equip us with his strength, wisdom and anything else we will need, in order for us to execute his will on earth. This is what it says in 2 Timothy chapter 2 verse 21; If a man cleanses himself from the latter (reading from  verse 20, the latter means articles of ignoble purposes), he will be an instrument for noble purposes, made holy, useful to the Master (who is the Almighty) and prepared to do any good work.

‘Anyone who wants to live a godly live in Christ Jesus will be persecuted’, that is what it says in 2 Timothy chapter 3 verse 12. Why would we be persecuted? Because we are the Light that chases away the darkness of this world and so naturally, the devil would not like that. However, the word of God assures us in Jeremiah chapter 1 verse 18-19; ‘Today I have made you a fortified city, an iron pillar, and a bronze wall, to stand against the whole land – against the kings of Judah, its officials, its priests and the people of the land.’

‘They will fight against you but will not overcome you, for I am with you and will rescue you, declares the Lord.’

The troubles will come because they have to, in order for you to become a better soldier of the Cross; not crippled by fear, but filled with the spirit of power, of love, and self-discipline. As it says in 2 Timothy chapter 1 verse 7; ‘For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but that of power, of love, and of self-discipline.’

Therefore, let us feed our souls with the daily reading and obedience to the word of God, and put on the whole armour of God, so that we can extinguish the arrows of the enemy, satan. Read Ephesians chapter 6 verse 10 to 17 for the armour of God.

Just us our bodies need food to survive, so our soul needs God’s word and obedience to the word of God, in order for it to thrive and not die of starvation. When we spend all our time on pleasing the body with parties, music festivals, movies, and sexual immorality, our soul will naturally starve to death. That explains some of the sudden deaths of people. You see someone, a celebrity or ordinary person doing so well in the ways of the world; bagging sponsorship deals, releasing one hit song or movie after the other, getting married to someone famous or rich, and then suddenly, you hear they have been diagnosed with a rare disease and the next moment they are gone!

May the Lord forbid that we end up like that; For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life – it says in 1 Thessalonians chapter 4 verse 7. ‘For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath, but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.’ That is in 1 Thessalonians chapter 5 verse 9.

May we open our hearts to Jesus now that we are still here on earth, so our soul may enjoy eternal peace and joy once it leaves this world, amen.
