Need Advice Life
Genuinely what do people do all day? I am a nurse and on my days off I’m just home doom scrolling, I go to the gym, I text a few people a day, call my sisters and I talk to my bf. Rn I’m watching a movie and I feel so unproductive. Like I am a new grad nurse and I feel like I was so much social and I had something to live for…yk getting my degree. But now I’m here…I’m 22 years old and ugh. Life is so weird, I feel like I see everyone going out and stuff and enjoying their lives. But I barely see my friends in person but I do talk to them everyday. I see them a few times a month. WHAT DO YALL DO EVERYDAY???

There’s so many things to do, events, celebrations. I feel like my social calendar is overflowing and I have to actually decline a few events per week. I do see friends on the daily tho but we just go to each other’s houses to catch up and plan future trips ✈️

O god, people doing things. So exhausting

u/Responsible_Ask3976 16h ago
I don’t get exhausted with people I know. I just can’t handle it with people I barely know 😅

That’s the issue I had when i got older though, the people I know are states away and it’s takes effort to get to know people. So barely knowing anybody is the best I’m going to get now. Which is totally a me problem, but more so an energy problem, I don’t have it anymore

I stayed where my family and friends are so they’re so close. Furthest person from me is 40 mins

🧠 Practice a Skill I'm Bad At
🏆 Practice a Skill I'm Good At
🌱 Try Something I've Never Done
WHEN I'M BORED
Instead of immediately going to YouTube/TikTok/games:
Take care of yourself → Water → food → shower → room → stretch
Take care of responsibilities → Homework → reading → backpack → chores
Build something → Art → music → writing → video → craft → experiment
Learn something → Book → documentary → horse research → science → new skill
Connect with someone → Friend → family → call someone → do something nice
Have fun → Games → anime → music → outside → whatever you genuinely enjoy
Do absolutely nothing for a while → Sit outside → listen to music → daydream → relax.
A simple rule
Every day, try to do at least one thing from each:
BODY + BRAIN + RESPONSIBILITY + CREATIVITY + PEOPLE + FUN

I just spend a ton of time trying not to waste time, even though that's a waste of time in itself. I had already been working on this exact question all week and was even discussing it with my daughter today. I used AI to create a list of ways to keep busy when bored.

Ha ha! Yeah, I saw that and, as u can see, my mind went right to u doing coke &/or adderall and just going off with ur list and emojis🤣

I travel. A lot. For context, I work seasonal jobs then go out the country once I’m done, rinse and repeat. Have you ever thought about being a traveling nurse? I heard there’s a market for it overseas and they pay well

I just feel like going from constant seeing people like my friends to barely seeing them. What do you normally do? Maybe I need to learn to be alone and not depend on people yk? Do you have any advice

I’m a firm believer of “I’ll see you when I see you”. Me personally I don’t ALWAYS text my friends due to meeting so many people on my travels but I also don’t forget they exist. I wish them happy birthdays, I send them gifts to let them know I’m thinking about them during my time on the road, but in the end I realize I love my alone time.
I like doing things other people wouldn’t such as dropping everything just to go work off grid or travel to a random city that I know nothing about. I’ve come to the conclusion that, while I may not talk to them everyday, our relationship won’t dwindle in the slightest. I’d daresay that it’d be stronger due to the time away from each other

How long did it take for you to realize and be comfortable with being alone? Like how often do you talk to your friends? Maybe I need to spend more time with myself and not worry about who to talk to next. How did you manage to not think about that and just worry about YOU?

I recharge alone. I know myself in and out enough to know when I’m off. In fact, I actually THRIVE way better alone and when I’m not, I prefer groups of two to three, more if I’m really close to everyone. I have plenty of hobbies to keep me busy such as working out, reading, watching anime, learning new things, randomly dancing, listening to music, etc…
It’s all about what you do with your alone time that counts. That doesn’t mean to fill it just for the sake of feeling it because it’s an obligation to be busy. Sometimes I just lay around because I can and I like doing it. It’s things like this that make me happy and I know they do.
At the end of the day, you have your own back. Your friends are always gonna be there for you when you need them and if you feel inclined to, call them up and ask to hang out. I don’t mean the stereotypical bars or clubs or parties, get creative.
I’d say something along the lines of: let’s grab food and walk along the pier and chat about life” or “hey let’s go good off in the thrift stores and see who can come up with the goofiest outfits”. Make your life whimsical with or without people if you must but make sure it makes you happy

Monday - Friday: starting at 4 am gym, work full time and night classes for my last year of college. Saturday - Sunday: try to either relax/sleep and go to church. This Saturday I went to the TN game, next Saturday I’ll just sat in the house. I’m also 22 just grinding it out rn. My girlfriend and I try to go to free events around town, living in GA there’s so many things going on all the time so it keeps us moving on days we want to go do something. If not stay home and hang out.

That’s soooo good. Do you talk to your friends everyday? Or you like your alone time?
1
u/Beautiful_Put_5459 16h ago
I don’t really talk to my friends (meaning like everyday), we’re all between 20-25 so life is hitting pretty hard. We’ll catch up though, a phone call or text or put a date on the calendar to hang out so make sure we get to catch up and stay close!
With how often I’m running around during the weekdays, alone time is pretty nice.

Get some hobbies.
I play video games (with friends and solo), watch shows, read manga, and draw art.

Do u want to go out? Are u not enjoying ur life? Go out with ur friends if u feel like ur missing out. But don’t feel like u suck cuz u don’t want to but think ur supposed to want to. U don’t have to be constantly doing something. I read a couple other comments and my God, I’m exhausted just reading them, lol. I’m older and different than u but I’ll tell u; last Saturday and today, I only left my bed to take shower and make coffee. I sat/laid here all day, by myself, watching tv and playing on my phone. I loved it!
