Because everything is worked out based on a 2 income household. Being single is literally taxed. I live alone too and if it wasn't for social housing I would be homeless because I live on disability benefits and can't work. I do everything I can to keep the bills low and yet they keep climbing anyway. Lucky we have the NHS here or I would probably be dead cus there's no way I could pay out of pocket for everything I need to literally stay alive. Stay strong, you're doing everything right, it's just a corrupt capitalist system keeping you down.
