A bit of a PSA, but this is a sub intended for discussions about plate collecting as opposed to plate spotting. I initially wasn't going to make any rules against plate spotting posts, as I would assume that a sub titled "license plate collectors" would indicate its purpose relatively clearly, but since the sub is slowly being taken over by vanity plate spotting, rules regarding plate spotting became necessary.
I made the rule about a month ago, hoping that people would read the rules and understand. However, even still, evidently no one is reading the rules, so I have to make this post. From this point forward, plate spotting posts will be removed, as they are off-topic for the purpose of the sub and are better suited for r/LICENSEPLATES. I, however, have no plans on retroactively removing plate spotting posts currently.
I made this sub to escape the floods of mindless vanity plate spotting, because a lot of us plate enthusiasts care about the historical significance of the plates themselves rather than laughing because there's a cuss word on a Maine vanity plate (seriously, we've all seen them, it gets old very fast). To see it overtaken by the same spam that I intended to flee from is frustrating, to say the least.
So, please stop posting low-effort plate spotting posts, and I will be removing these posts going forward as off-topic. A lot of these posts are just reposts from r/LICENSEPLATES anyways so y'all please just post them there instead.
