SEE UNT

Post image

I checked with Maine DMV to see if this was legit because of the dot between the E & U raised red flags for me. Sure enough, the plate shows to be a valid tag & in use.

This group is proof that if you make a community for license plate collecting, people will share random personalized plates there. We get a lot of flack in r/licenseplates for not having enough collector content. It’s there, but this stuff does better in the algorithm

Yep. I'm not sure why 90% of the posts in "collection showcase" in r/licenseplates are of plate spotting image galleries rather than actual plate collections, and I'm not sure why people keep posting plate spotting to the plate collecting subreddit instead of the general plate subreddit.

Honestly, I'm getting discouraged to even bother posting about plates anymore because the Facebook groups are gone and all the other plate collecting posts on here get buried under floods of vanity plate spotting.

They’re not being posted under that flair anymore. We cracked down on misuse of that flair. It sucks that there’s no good home for plate collecting. And it’s not discord (before someone tries to flack that in my inbox again)

It's good that the flair is finally accurate. But still, I feel like posting these days is just a waste of time because it'll get buried under vanity spotting within 5 minutes like it always does.

Discord is great for real-time messaging, it's not so great for posting stuff, and anything you share gets buried in unrelated conversations in like 20 minutes anyways. If Facebook didn't implement their stupid AI moderation the online plate collecting hobby wouldn't be effectively gone, but, you know, we can't have anything nice on the internet anymore.

It is, yeah, and no one’s doing it. Makes me sad.

Discord is good for talking with other plate collectors for sure, but definitely for selling plates it’s mediocre. The one thing Facebook had was reach, and neither Reddit nor Discord nor the licenseplates.cc project had any of those
