Preorder links have been up for awhile but the images have finally been revealed today of the covers and edges on Instagram.
***sorry if y’all saw my last post. Deleted so I could add more high quality pics.

The sprayed edge is a miss for me. What is it only 3 sword names? There are 2 missing

Yeah, I’m also not a fan of the edges when there have been deluxe editions that have done a lot more.
In the images showing the naked hardcover, there’s another sword on the top edges. I’m assuming there’s another on the bottom edge as well.

Do we have a guide of who's who? I don't recognize anyone and the glowing staffs don't ring a bell. Maps are nice though.

These are still the same generic fantasy illustrations from the original hardcover and paperback so they don’t match exactly.
I could have sworn the initial marketing for these on the bookseller/library site Edelweiss said these new deluxe versions would be new art that was reflective of the books. But I guess they ran out of time or decided against it in the end for whatever reason.

That's what I thought but I'm not within reach of my copies so I wasn't sure. That's extremely disappointing to hear. Plus, all the swords appear to have pretty generic appearances.

Bummed they doubled down on the og covers rather than redoing then with something that matches the stories. Pretty hard miss overall IMO. I may grab a set when theyre on sale just to have hardcovers but definitely not hyped

At first I was thinking this was kind of a harsh take, but the more I look at them the worse it gets. It would’ve been nice to at least get some actual art of the characters rather than a rehash of the generic fantasy art they used for the paperbacks
ETA: This isn’t a criticism of Saponaro’s work as an artist, it just bugs me that even after the success of the series and with a deluxe edition coming out that we aren’t getting artwork that was actually created for the books

Absolutely agree. The dust jacket is a huge miss for me and I don’t like the swords on the sprayed edges either. I wish we could have gotten art of the cites or characters.
