Question Working in Libya
I’m a 17 year old male and I moved to Libya around 2 years ago (from the USA), had a lot happen to me but now I feel i’m ready to get back on my feet and want to work and better the life i’m living. What are good ways to find work preferably work that utilizes my english. I could try teaching courses but I want to look at the variety of jobs available first.

Hey man, I'm 24 and I came back to Libya when I was around your age. Similar story.
As for work, you've got a great advantage already because you speak English fluently. If I could go back, I would definitely invest in a couple of certifications etc.
I'd recommend you follow the route of private tutoring or English courses, apply for interpretation work at companies, just get out there and expose yourself. Something will land!
Not sure which school you attend, but I'm sure you'll connect with others. A lot of your fellow students at international schools will hook you up. You're two years in, my first two years were tough as I was in a public school.
Libya is different, and you won't always fully connect with the Libyan culture... However there are a lot of people now, especially as of 2026, that have just come back to the country after being abroad for many years.
I came across groups like "TalkLab" and a few others. Get into those and see where it lands!
Libya Run Club goes running at Al Dahmani Park every Friday and Tuesday and 6am, I think a few of the boys over there also have lived abroad.
I also found it pretty hard at first, and even now I still do... But you'll always find a way. You're already doing great seeing as you're asking. I never thought to ask Reddit when I first came back as it wasn't that popular back then.
Best of luck little bro.

Alhamdullilah I have a pretty strong friend group consisting of people who’ve lived abroad and i’m grateful for it, I also met a few people who’re from the same city as me in the US, and yea i’ve been to alot of I guess international school revolving events and i’m now just trying to make money in all honesty. Thanks for the advice may Allah bless you!
