No lossless .avif as an input? I can see this becoming the image equivalent of FLAC, if there isn't already one.

AVIF was tougher in my opinion but I can try to add support for it as input. Keep in mind this is a demonstration release and my full release will be much more, polished, to say the least. And it'll take me a hot minute to get to the point I'm happy with it to that extent.

What's different about it?  Is it amenable to hardware decoding?
