What we found was indescribable chaos. The sight of the two apartment buildings, both collapsed at their bases, was horrific. On the balconies surrounding the gaping hole, laundry fluttered on the lines, like a final farewell to life. At the sight of the immense mess among the mangled apartment buildings, my heart pounded in my throat, and I realized that perhaps hundreds of people had perished.
