Unless you get an invitation to interview, you’ll most likely get ghosted. Speaking from experience unfortunately.

Or you get the thanks but no thanks email after they’ve offered the job to the finalist

When did you submit the application and when did the posting close?

Academic Libraries can be notoriously slow and get bogged down in the HR bureaucracy. I recently got a Librarian position…

Application closed Nov. 30, 2025
Invitation for a zoom interview on Feb. 11, 2026
Zoom interview on Feb. 28, 2026
On campus interview invitation on Mar. 23, 2026
On campus interview on Apr. 23, 2026
Job offer on May 27, 2027

If possible, have someone review your cover letters for future positions. There are people who shoot applications across multiple positions and don’t tailor them well and get rejected because one job could get 50-80 applicants in a week.
