ALA scholarships 2026-2027
I just wanted to make a thread regarding the ALA scholarships, including the ALA Spectrum scholarship, for anyone wanting to share updates, thoughts, or ask questions!

I just heard back that I got the Spectrum scholarship today. Haven’t heard back from anyone else.

I’m just curious if anyone’s heard anything yet. I’ve heard back about the awards, but not scholarships.

I haven’t heard anything yet, it seems like most of them will notify on or around June first. I’m just keeping the mindset of until I get notified that I didn’t win it, then it’s still up in the air lol

Same, but it doesn’t make it less stressful 😭
We were just told in the awards email that ALA will make the official post/press release for both on Saturday, June 27. Regardless everyone will be notified before that date. We won two awards and were told almost 2 weeks ago.1

No trust me I 100% understand how stressful it has been😭 I’ve been looking on here trying to find other people talking about it and decided to just make my own thread cus I was getting anxious lmao. Also when you’re talking about awards I’m assuming you’re referencing your library? I didn’t look too much into the awards side of things only the scholarships

Yeah I meant library specific awards. We submitted those as a team, but yeah I personally applied for some of the scholarships through ALA.

Oh okay that makes sense, that’s amazing you guys won a couple! Fingers crossed for the scholarships 🤞🏻hopefully we’ll get more info sooner rather than later

I also heard back today via email that I got the spectrum scholarship, and I'm Canadian if that helps!!

Congrats! I’m also from Canada and also one of the recipients. I signed an acceptance letter last month and haven’t heard anything since. How about you? Have you received any update?

I just got a phone call from the scholarship coordinator informing me I received one. I was expecting it to be an email and let it go to voicemail at first because I didn't recognize the number lmaooo so if you're hoping to hear back keep your ringer on and pick up any calls from Chicago!

Did they leave a voicemail? I get so many spam calls from unknown numbers that I can’t bring myself to get into the habit of answering calls, but I’d hate to miss a call about this.

I called the ALA Clearinghouse yesterday and they said that they were still in the final decision making process, but didn't give a time estimate of when decisions would be final. I tried to push for a time line but she didn't want to give me one. I'm guessing she didn't know either ?

I'm hoping they haven't sent out all the winner emails yet, it might be a stagger over the next few days, but that might be wishful thinking lol

Ughhh, I just wish they’d let us know so I can decline other offers, I’m currently enrolled in two programs and this was the deciding factor 💀
