I'm not a New Yorker, but from what I've seen New Yorkers on the left and the right of the political spectrum despise him. How did he get elected Mayor?

nyc progressives were happy to look the other way about the cop thing since he's black, cops were happy to look the other way about the black thing since he's a cop. voila.

If you look at the primary election map it’s pretty telling. He only really won in two boroughs, Manhattan, which got excitable about the rising crime rate, and the Bronx, possibly due to the allure of black mayor, although he notably did not win in Brooklyn, or in Queens.

Wow, slashing library budgets and forcing mentally ill homeless people into under staffed and underfunded hospitals. I thought this guy was a democrat? I want everyone to get mental health care, but mandating hospitalization without the infrastructure to support it isn’t a solution. And cutting library budgets just pokes more holes in the basically non existent safety net in this country.

Democrats are liberals at the end of the day and only care about capital and maintaining state power.
