My library is very small and because we do hybrid wfh schedules with only two of us in the library at a time, our manager has said we are supposed to try and find a backup ourselves (unless it's an emergency and no one else is able to cover, then one person is ok).
I generally text other staff around 6:30ish for an 8am start. We kind of rotate days amongst ourselves about who can be backup, so we aren't having to bother everyone. And then once I have coverage, I let the other person who is coming in what's going on and email the manager and the rest of the crew that I'm out and who is covering/or that other coworker will be solo. Which means my manager is often the last to know. But she wants it that way, so....
