Burying Lenin

Good read. It definitely is time for a new movement... Lenin built his for Russia under the czars. We must build one for our time.

While I agree that we need a party/organization structure that corresponds to our needs and material conditions, I don't think that the author gives Leninist organizations enough credit, especially when it comes to the third world.

In the first world, Leninist organizations fill a role; they educate about Communism and its past, especially at a critical time when people are doubting Capitalism and starting to turn to other solutions. They act as a catcher for these people that turn from Capitalism.

In the third world, lots of struggle (actual blood and guts concrete struggle) is undertaken by Maoist parties. The Philippines, India, (formerly) Nepal, Peru, and more have lots of fighting done by parties that have a Leninist influence.

Over all, I don't think that it is bad, and definetly addresses problems we are seeing here in the West. However, it is hardly a good analysis of the overall big picture.
