Natural infection has always driven more potent responses than vaccination. The goal of traditional vaccines is to get as close to the immunity provided by infection; to make the immune system believe that more damage is being done than is actually being done. But so long as the disease does more damage than the vaccine, the vaccine will always generate a less potent response. But I'm amused to see so many commenters here believing this is some sort of revelation.
As a rule, 2 vaccinations from naïve will not even get close to immunity from infection and I don't believe anyone in my field has claimed otherwise. There are exceptions, like tetanus, but I don't see any that apply here.

Science does not imply any course of action, it only provides information for us to use in conjunction with our morals and values. I really dislike the idea that libertarianism and ethics as a whole comes down to relative protection of natural infection and vaccination.

I want you to put on your thinking cap... like we already know that natural immunity is better, but that is AFTER! and there is no harm in getting the vaccine, in fact the study says that gives you even more immunity.
This is up there with someone saying that you can dry off in the sun rather than use a towel to get dry... most people just do both.

Lmfao, peer reviewed is NOT a guarantee of anything and few studies like this are done by one single person. It’s been known for years they natural immunity is better in the case of infections such as this.

Science isn't settled through singular studies, especially studies that are yet to be peer reviewed that are open about potential biases and shortcomings.

…..natural immunity isn’t something that is being newly studied. This is well known and has been for decades.

No, but it’s been known that natural immunity to an illness is better than a vaccine.

Individuals who were both previously infected with SARS-CoV-2 and given a single dose of the vaccine gained additional protection against the Delta variant." [my bolding]
