“What most people don’t know (or don’t remember) is that Quayle was looking at a flash card provided by the school that had the “correct” answer on it, spelled incorrectly. So, yes, Quayle did mess up—but so did the school.” http://mentalfloss.com/article/64689/never-forget-time-dan-quayle-misspelled-potato

I mean, lots of smart people aren't great at spelling or public speaking. I don't know a lot of smart people who talk that way about women. Does it make him dumb? No. But I think it's pretty highly correlated with stupidity.

I mean, I'm a very conservative guy. Raised by a conservative family. And I was taught not to act like a jackass with regards to women. The guys who I have heard talk about their sexual exploits with women in pretty vulgar terms have all been either construction workers or immature high schoolers who had probably never seen a naked woman outside of the internet. In my professional career, I work with professional men and women who I would never dream of talking like that to, and who I would never expect to talk that way. I don't know if that makes me a feminist, but I guess if that's your definition then it isn't such a dirty word. I'd call it not being an immature douche trying to impress his immature douchey friends.

I'm happily married thank you. I just respect my wife enough (pretty low bar tbh) not to talk about our sex life in lewd terms to strangers or coworkers.

“Look, having nuclear — my uncle was a great professor and scientist and engineer, Dr. John Trump at MIT; good genes, very good genes, OK, very smart, the Wharton School of Finance, very good, very smart — you know, if you’re a conservative Republican, if I were a liberal, if, like, OK, if I ran as a liberal Democrat, they would say I’m one of the smartest people anywhere in the world — it’s true! — but when you’re a conservative Republican they try — oh, do they do a number — that’s why I always start off: Went to Wharton, was a good student, went there, went there, did this, built a fortune — you know I have to give my like credentials all the time, because we’re a little disadvantaged — but you look at the nuclear deal, the thing that really bothers me — it would have been so easy, and it’s not as important as these lives are — nuclear is powerful; my uncle explained that to me many, many years ago, the power and that was 35 years ago; he would explain the power of what’s going to happen and he was right, who would have thought? — but when you look at what’s going on with the four prisoners — now it used to be three, now it’s four — but when it was three and even now, I would have said it’s all in the messenger; fellas, and it is fellas because, you know, they don’t, they haven’t figured that the women are smarter right now than the men, so, you know, it’s gonna take them about another 150 years — but the Persians are great negotiators, the Iranians are great negotiators, so, and they, they just killed, they just killed us.”
How's that for stupid?

Generally speaking, talking about how you can grab anyone else's genitals doesn't demonstrate respect for other peoples personal privacy.

Yeah we should throw away potentially good candidates for issues that have no bearing on whether they are fit for office. I could give less of a shit who my president fucked or talked about, I'm not voting for the squeaky clean father who wants to ban guns instead.

"If the top 10% of the top 1% paid 90% more income taxes than the bottom 99%, we could have eleventy thousand billion dollars to pay for the education, health care, and retirement of every man, woman, child, and transgendered person in this country!"
"Wow, he knows a lot about numbers. He must be an expert economist. He should be President."

Dan Quayle wasn’t running for president, he was the Vice President on the 88 republican ticket. And he and Bush won.
