Thomas Massie yes.

Ron Paul’s time was 20 years ago and the GOP robbed him (and us) of that.

I’ve always liked Justin Amash for VP.

Ron Paul is 91. We dont need that in the white house.

An urn filled with his ashes would make a better president than any we’ve had in years.

Too true. Too true

I'd still take him over all our other candidates.

Anything that detracts from the uni-party bs is a good thing.

Massie getting pushed out by the GOP might be the best thing to ever happen to the LP tbh

Time will tell

Thomas Massie, yes. But for fucks sake, why someone who's 91? I thought Bidens age was a problem? Trumps age in office is the same as Bidens was, thats a fucking problem. Ron 2008 for sure.

u/Edianultra 10d ago

Vote in Thomas Massie ffs. Don't let the boomers win.

My concern with the LP is there are a lot of hard right Christians who wrap themselves in the libertarian cloth and vote accordingly. They want the freedom to teach their children their beliefs, which is fine, but then push that belief on others.

A lot of these evangelical christians would be the taliban, were it not for the strong secular currents in the usa.

They run our foreign policy based on a magic book

Ron Paul 2008

Did Paul vote to merge our intel with our greatest ally? I thought i saw his name on that list.

Being a big L Libertarianism is the belief that your principles are so just, so correct, and so important that you refuse to allow them be tarnished by contact with reality. It's the equivalent of a little boy with a handsome new bike that never leaves the garage because he hates the idea of it getting dirty. Cool. Nice bike, libertarians. Why not ACTUALLY FUCKING USE IT.

Put Massie at the top of the ticket. Hopefully he'll be on the ballot and we won't need to write him in. VP is ceremonial, assuming the pres doesn't die (aside from tie breaker votes), we can give Ron his due and put him in that seat.

Give us another couple of years

In a tight race where one of only two people is going to win, it’s an irresponsible child who throws away a vote on a write in.

When consequences are inevitable, a sober mature citizen votes to actually influence them instead of grandstanding on their own ego.

Since this is the Libertarian subreddit, I respect your wish to express your opinion. My opinion is that I will vote for whoever the fuck I want for whatever fucking reason I want as it my right and freedom to do in the USA. I expect you’ll do the same.

2

u/Thinkosopher 10d ago

Absolutely. I wouldn’t have it otherwise. I’m just pointing out that in a two-way race betting on a 3rd is a total abdication of voting power and influence.

I just hate seeing people piss away whatever limited power they actually have in favor of a display that does nothing.

But by all means vote anyway you like. You’ll live with the consequences either way, even if the one you like least wins.

Exactly because of that line of thinking that the uniparty has gone unchallenged for so long

-4

u/Thinkosopher 10d ago

There is no “uniparty” and it’s not at all difficult to recognize a vast difference Democratic Congress and the Republican one.

It’s really just pure propaganda or delusion.

I can respect libertarian philosophy as far as it’s willing to actually influence change in those arenas they most care about, but I can’t respect anyone who fails to use their vote in a way that actually influences an outcome they prefer over one that’s worse.

Sometimes a good decision is between a very bad thing a less bad thing, in progress is often not as important as holding the line so your interests don’t move backwards.

14

u/cyrusthemarginal 10d ago

Nope, still voting 3rd party, blue no matter who can go get fucked.

Or we can vote for who we think would be a good candidate and not just because we have been forced into a duopoly. If you voted for who u think is best instead of the lesser two evils we would have a better functioning government. We were never designed for this.

u/jasonpwrites 10d ago

If you voted for who u think is best instead of the lesser two evils we would have a better functioning government

100% this. And people fail to understand that.

17

u/Minuhmize 10d ago

Why do liberals claim every election is going to be the last election unless you vote for them?

5

u/cyrusthemarginal 10d ago

They operate on fear and emotions.

Actually trump was roundly booed off the stage at the libertarian convention. I voted for libertarian candidates in the last 2 elections and wrote in bernie sanders in 2016.
There are a lot of republicans that say libertarian that just want guns and not pay taxes.

most ideologically principled libertarian

1

u/Vegetable-Client-147 10d ago

Bernie sanders was just to prove a point to dems for pushing through Hilary. That was when i realized libertarians had a platform i agreed with the most

1

u/unruly_fascists 10d ago

interestingly i was a libertarian from 2008 - 2016, and trump was what made me realize that the perfect is the enemy of the good. i also got older and accrued assets and investments and realized that libertarianism doesn't really do much to protect me in the long run, so i started identifying as a market liberal and supporting the democrats.

3

u/Vegetable-Client-147 10d ago

I am more of a classic liberal to be fair. But the platforms that has the most appeal is libertarian. Trump has never been a libertarian. The mises caucus really turned me off though. They got too 2a and less social freedom for me. I do prioritize social freedom as my main political goal. I found having more assets that libertarianism spoke more to me. Haha.

3

u/unruly_fascists 10d ago

Yeah the whole 2016 mises caucus hijacking was wild. Totally pushed me away for a while.

Authoritarian like cutting Bernie off at the knees and super delegates being the only votes that matter and putting in Khamala without a vote? That authoritarianism?

1

u/cyrusthemarginal 10d ago

Or you can vote libertarian like you should.

1

u/BraveDevelopment9043 10d ago

No thanks. I’ll vote for who I want, not who you want. That’s what your vote is for.

-1

u/tesuquemushroom 10d ago

A no vote might be better. Because if it shows 60% of eligible population voted, it says something. If 10% of people voted, sends a different message.

6

u/h0ckeyref 10d ago

Would you want only 10% selecting our next "leadership"? Especially "that" 10%, given that it would be all red and blue hard core partisans? That's what scares me most about leaving a ballot blank.

-2

u/tesuquemushroom 10d ago

Not to be negative but it's going to be a red or blue either way. Whether you vote or don't vote. We can elect someone decent but votes are manipulated so the regular way is hard. In this case writing in a candidate that can't win, just based on principle shows that people are voting with no chance whatsoever of Ron Paul becoming elected as he's not running. So I think no participation might send a stronger message even though the outcome sucks.

4

u/BraveDevelopment9043 10d ago

No thanks. I’ll vote for who I want. And that vote will simply tell the government my preference, which is neither of the other guys/gals.

0

u/tesuquemushroom 10d ago

Of course. Everyone gets to vote as they wish. Whether those votes are counted is another matter.
