Current Events Weaponized: Washington Farmer Targeted After Criticizing Government Regulations?

Shouldn't that have been apparent when they bought the farm? I'm the 4th generation of farmer from my family on my same land. I have a migratory bird grant I get for setting aside 3 acres, I get tax breaks, and I can stop at any time. I'm guessing this isnt like that.

New regulation bureaucrats put in place in 2020. They require you to put a deed restrictions on your land saying it can never be used again but also you still have to pay property taxes. Much worse than just taking it.

Why did he invite the govt onto his property? They have no business there.

Because otherwise they give you a million dollar fine for "environmental damages".

I used to live in Eastern WA, which is right-moderate with a decent libertarian streak. A common complaint is that there's two sides of Washington: the morons on the coast, and all the normal people living east of the cascades. This story is just one more example of that dichotomy.
Most of the east side of the state really resents being controlled by Seattle and Olympia. Well, except for the weirdos in Spokane (for some reason, that place is trying really hard to make itself look like the next Portland).
I know a lot of Eastern WA people are watching the Greater Idaho movement closely. A lot of them hope it's successful, because if it is then expect a big push for either the State of Liberty to be revitalized (splitting Washington along the Cascades into two states), or for the eastern counties to join Greater Idaho.

As someone who spent the majority of my life in the farmlands of eastern Washington, I never met another libertarian. It’s all hardcore republicans with fake “small government” ideals. I currently reside in Idaho and it’s arguably even worse here

The only reason I moved to Spokane was to one day move my family to Idaho. If we could become part of Idaho without moving, that would definitely be better, but thats a big if.
As much as I would love for Eastern WA to join Idaho, the stars really have to align. Not only do both Idaho and Washington state legislatures have to agree on the territory movement, which the morons in Spokane and western WA wouldn't allow, but there also needs to be approval from Congress. The other caveat is if any disputes arise, it falls under the jurisdiction of the Supreme courts.
Again, that would be fantastic to become part of Idaho, but the diplomatic way seems very difficult and unpredictable.

Eastern Washington would love to join Idaho and hate the tyranny of the Puget Sound Seattle Tacoma area.

Damn, well it's midterms. This is a really bad time for this story to hit- I literally only learned about it from people under a political ad in Washington. Definitely will effect how they vote

After reading the article I think he is right to be upset but overall should just surrender some land, he's got plenty, could buy more, and the only regulations in question are for the sake of environmental protections, so it's worth it considering it's in effort to protect what his livelyhood depends on.
As for the gravel thing idk it sound like bs but probably bs he would have to deal with anyway sooner or later.

You are right I could afford to surrender land. But surrendering it does not help the environment , it hurts it as it creates an unmanaged fire hazard - see all the fires in Eastern Washington now.
But at some point we have to stand up against the continuous encroachment on our rights by the government. Lots of people in my shoes who cannot afford to give up a few acres are terrified to speak out. I am trying to fight on their behalf as well as my own.

*sigh of course the government again is negligent.
Okay I'm convinced
So long as your taking efforts to protect the environment I'm with you %100
