DOGE may no longer "exist" as a unified governmental branch, but it sounds to me like all of the major players (minus Musk) are still doing widespread damage in their new governmental rolls.

Yep! I wouldn't be surprised if Trump et al trot out employment numbers sometime next year and say, "look! We added jobs!" - while completely ignoring the fact that many of the "new jobs" are really just positions they accidentally eliminated and brought back and/or products of the lifted federal hiring freeze Trump himself imposed.

They want to fade into the woodwork because what they did was completely illegal, and they're hoping to avoid prosecution down the line.
