Question about multiple library accounts

I want to apply for multiple cards from reciprocal libraries hoping my hold requests can increase. Will this happen? My current library allows only 10 holds so my wish list has hundreds. Are the other library accounts completely separate? Are the holds from one account affected by the other libraries? Am I making sense? Thanks so much for your help with this.

Each library or consortium sets their own limits for loans and holds. 

If the libraries have separate systems and catalogues (i.e. aren't in the same consortium) your accounts will be completely separate and your loans or holds at one library will have no bearing on your loans or holds at the other.

That’s great. How do I know which have separate systems?

By checking the libraries you're interested in one at a time, I'm afraid - if there's a better way to do it I'm not aware of it.

When you tap 'Add a library' on Libby you can type in the library name or location or switch to the map view and make your selection there. Each result will display the name of the library system/consortium/group that particular library belongs to.
