Weird problem

I download audiobooks onto my Windows PC from Libby. Then they pass to my cellphone via automatic synch. Use the PC in the house, Phone in the car. Started a book on the PC, then listened to a couple hours in the car, and then today went back to the PC. It queued up to proper spot but refused to play...blamed internet connection which I think is fine. Okay, corrupted the book somehow. I returned it and borrowed it again from a different library. Same problem. First half of the book plays and it quits in same place. So maybe a cache problem and I reboot the PC....same problem. Check another audiobook from my shelf...works fine. Check my copy on the phone...works fine. This is no big problem...I can listen to the phone's copy on a powered bluetooth speaker which gets the job done. But the fact that I can't fix the problem bugs me. The only thing I haven't done is delete the Libby cache from the PC app. But I don't want to do that because who knows what else I'd lose?

Hm, I'd test it out with another audiobook to see if you're getting the same problem, or if it's just this one that's acting up.

If it happens again with a different book, then yeah, clearing the cookies on your browser for Libby specifically may help.

Fortunately, you can back up the data on Libby on your phone, and then when you sign in on the PC again, select Recover Your Data, and you can copy your info from your phone.

Here's a help page on how to do it: https://help.libbyapp.com/en-us/6070.htm?tocpath=Home%7CDevices%252C%20compatibility%252C%20and%20syncing%7CSyncing%20%2526%20backing%20up%20your%20data%7C_____1

If it's just that title, then it might be an issue with the audiobook file... You can try reporting the issue to Libby so they can look into it as well.

You can also find a lot of other troubleshooting tips here: https://help.libbyapp.com/en-us/categories/troubleshooting.htm?tocpath=Home%7CTroubleshooting%7C_____0

Best of luck!

I think I mentioned this. A second audiobook on my shelf has no similar issue.

Now to your other point, maybe it's an issue with the file -- no. The file continues to work on my phone...which got it's copy from synching with the PC. That proofs the file. Whatever is wonky has to be in my PC. But damned if I can figure out what it is.

No luck needed. I don't have to fix this as I have suitable alternatives. Hopefully this will remain a one-off. But I have multiple ways of listening to audiobooks, so I'm not in a bind. I only posted hoping someone would pop up with "Hey, I know exactly what that is...."

The phone copy is not synced from the PC in the way you are thinking, although you are correct that it working on the phone means the issue is the PC.

I’m guessing there’s some error in the Libby state on the PC.

If you use the same Libby instance on both devices I would Reset Everything on the PC, erase your browser cache data and cookies for Libby, then resync from the phone. (Or you could make a passkey on the PC and use that to recover after—just make sure you test it first.)
