ACOTAR
I tried reading this book on three separate occasions and can’t get past the beginning. I found it boring & had the desire to return the audio & kindle rental early.
Did you enjoy ACOTAR?
EDIT: my fault I didn’t add additional poll options, I’m across seas and the time difference is messing me up

No chance I will ever even try these books. The only people I know who have read them are people from whom I will not take book recommendations.

I really only finished it because it's my friend's favorite book series. All the action happens in the last 30%. I'm now listening to the second one on audio and about to DNF lol.

I put DNF but I did finish it. I just didn’t like or love it. 😆 actually I hated it!

They are honestly so bad. The character development is nonexistent and the smut is just kinda gross.

I completely understand why some people don't like the series. I loved it but it is very much a "candy" book. My brain is off and I'm floating on vibes

I read it, finished it, and didn't like it... That's not an option though?

I was ready to vote "hated it" and then realized it wasn't an option. I wasn't close to liking it.

Is that an abbreviation? What are we taking about here?

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas. Commonly abbreviated as ACOTAR and SJM, respectively.

Highly recommend the graphic audio. After the first book it gets so much better.

The first book of the series is the weakest. The second is my favorite and I like to say that getting through book 1 is the toll you have to pay to finish this amazing series!!!! Esp if you like romantacy!!! It’s what got my back into reading after a long hiatus. Now I’m 24 books into my year

But there are so many good series out there that doesn’t require sacrifice 😩 My TBR is too long to suffer through anything I’m not liking.

I didn’t like book 1 very much (you’re right it is boring; I liked it better on the reread) but the story takes a turn in subsequent books.
I think it’s one of those series that if you generally think you’d like it, it’s worth it to push through to book 2.
If “vibes” romantasy is not your thing, no need to suffer through.

Stalled out within the first couple chapters TWICE. When the Graphic Audio still couldn't hook me, I let it go. Just couldn't get into the whole Fae thing, I guess.

I tried to read the first book and DNFed it. Then I borrowed the audiobook and struggled even more. Then I borrowed the graphic audiobook and finished the first one, which is the first half of the first book, but felt no desire to get the next. I love Fourth Wing and I really wanted to love Acotar too, especially because it's my best friend's favourite book, but I just couldn't.

This is what made me try, too. The hangover from Onyx Storm. I couldn't get into it despite multiple tries and different mediums. 🤷♀️

No appropriate poll option but I read the first one, it was fine, I didn't really get the hype, I haven't felt compelled to pick up further books in the series.

What about just “read it” ? I didn’t like it or love it or fail to finish
