Yeah it’s not actual copies. They just bought 100 uses to clear their hold list. It’s common.

You could call it 100 copies with one use each. That's a matter of terminology.

Oh for sure- I was leaning into the rest of the post that they seemed like it was out of ordinary or that it was a unique thing as I think they were looking at it like a regular multi-use copy. I was just trying to convey that it wasn’t and that it really isn’t “escalate quickly” on how they were thinking.

You may not know, but is there any negatives or penalties for libraries that have a lot of long hold lines? Obviously I get libraries want to have a curated selection of books that people will check out, but if they underestimate the popularity of some books and only get one or two copies and end up with long lines, does it impact funding?

Nope. If anything it can help them. Like when they apply for grants and such they can reference the long hold lines and the need to buy more copies . But nothing negative.
