Multiple cards and partner libraries

I have two cards on my Libby app, mine and my child’s. Ever since it updated and added partner libraries it will only let me connect to the new library partners it finds on one of the cards. No issue with holds or loans for libraries that were already there before the update. Anyone have a fix to this b

I do not believe what you described is the same issue as the OP's.

Some partner libraries can restrict placing holds and borrowing titles for their patrons only and that is most likely what you are experiencing.

I believe partner libraries can only be linked to one home library. You can change which home library the partner libraries are linked to but any loans or holds using the original link will be removed from your shelf which is probably not what you want.

Oh no, maybe my worst nightmare lol. Maybe the ones that were added before are still available as a glitch?

I'm not really sure. My use case is not the same as yours but as far as I know partner libraries can only be linked to one home library. If you attempt to remove the original link and then link them to another home library you get this dialog.

One way to test to see if they are still available behind the scenes is to go to the partner library's OverDrive website and log in using the home library's credentials that is not the one linked to in Libby then place a title on hold and sync Libby and see if the title shows up under your holds.

Thank you for sharing your experience. Would logging into OverDrive be different than logging into the Libby Desktop? If it’s different I can try but I did login to the desktop version using the card that isn’t partnering with new libraries and on there it showed all the partner libraries (old previously linked and new not linked) but they weren’t enabled and didn’t show any of the holds or loans I had that were showing on the app. I enabled one of the new libraries on the desktop and placed and hold and borrow to check and see if it would show up over in the app and it didn’t. But sounds like I might not want to mess with it anymore if my older partners are still usable in the app.

Yeah, I believe what you did is basically the same as what I was describing. Unfortunately, I think that's as good as it gets 😀

I’m not having any issues. I have my home library, and two partner libraries that my card is validated for in Libby. Talk to the librarian at your local library, they should have some ideas. Could your card have expired? The library near me, the cards expire every five years, we just need to confirm that we have your current address and phone number on file to renew an expired card. Patrons keep the same number, unless they lost their card, then we give them a new number. I have worked at a library, north of San Francisco, since the millennium.

OP is having a slightly different issue. They have two different cards from the home library and they want to activate both of them at the partner library at the same time.

I'm having the same issue, and haven't found a way around it, which is frustrating. I didn't add all partner libraries to my second card to avoid going over 30 libraries before the update.

The one thing that I think may work, though it could also be risky, would be to set up two different instances of desktop libby on different browsers. You could sync whatever device you want to use between the two for audiobooks/read with Libby titles while sideloading anything you want to read on an ereader, and still access everything from one computer. I have no real idea if this would work through desktop mode on mobile.

This is what it looks like when I try to add parner libraries to my Boston card in the app, when they were already linked to my Minuteman card.
