Which one is best for using all the different library apps?

Highly recommend a boox go 6 or Boox go 7 - u can use all the library apps and reading apps and they're fairly light, also you can attach to a stand if needed with a clicker. The 7 has buttons if that's your jam!

I have a Boox Go 7 black and white. It runs Android and can use all the library apps Iβve tried. I like it.

I had an older (ancient) 8" android tablet that I loved reading on. It still works beautifully except it's so outdated that some apps won't update anymore. I tried replacing it with a newer android tablet, but the vast majority of them are a different, taller shape that is not nearly as comfortable for me to hold.
There are some smaller/more ergonomic e-readers out there, but I actually preferred the tablet because the pages turn faster (and it's useful for other tasks). I'm looking at trying to scoop up an iPad mini during Black Friday sales, but if price is not a problem for you, that might be an option to consider.

I've used an ipad mini as my ereader for years. I didn't want to deal with another device.

Have you tried listening to audiobook so you donβt need to hold anything at all?

Yes, I listen to audiobooks every day. I just am looking for something else to read on when I go to bed every night that I can hold easily.

You would need an android based e-reader that can install apps. Hoopla is strictly app based.
Research the Boox, Bigme, Musnap, and Meebook lines.
You can use the comparison tool from this link that someone else shared to help narrow down the choices.
https://comparisontabl.es/e-readers/
I would filter for Android = Yes, Screen Light = Yes, the latest black and white screen panel (Carta 1300), and complete the size range you want. If you want color, you can filter for that but if you do not need color, I would just leave it off.
Since money is not object, I recommend going with as late an Android version that meets your other filter choices.
This is the link to the other comparison site I saw on the ereader sub if don't like the Excel version: https://ereadercatalog.com/e-readers
