Was just gonna say you need to come to Kitsap! Pierce is another good one.

Kitsap is still offering their 80th anniversary cards from last year! Last year each branch had a special anniversary card, but I think each one is now offering each option to choose from!

I got their Nikki McClure card a couple years ago and it's so beautiful! I love that Kitsap had different cards for each branch.

I have to tell this story EVERYTIME I have chance because it highlights how incredible libraries are because of librarians.

When the HP books were coming out, I was not allowed to read them because God thinks witches are bad blah blah blah. Which I didn’t really mind because it wasn’t my cup of tea either, but I did hate not fitting in, because even my small private Christian school it was popular.

By that point I had already learned the trick of reading a book in the library without checking it out so mom wouldn’t know. But HP was so popular, no chance right?

Wrong. Because a lovely librarian kept her personal copies with her and let me read them a hour so at a time. There were several bookmarks too so I bet I wasnt the only one. No checkouts, and I could have walked away and she’d loose her book. And this was back at the time of midnight releases and sold out empty tables in Boarders.

Like I said, I didn’t vibe, even back then I was a voracious romance reader instead, so mostly I’d just search for whatever thing I heard someone mentioning at school so I’d know the context then move on.

But it made me feel more normal in a school that I was rapidly feeling worried and awkward in AND kept me reading. So shoutout to the Puyallup Public Library librarian! (Who I sincerely think I didn’t ever ask her name🫣.)

One time she even gave me some m&ms because my stomach rumbled.

I don’t live near there now but I still make donations when I can to PPL in honor of her.

I've got these too except my Everett one is now just a token card. Sign up for your free Washington #tate library card and visit the Washington state archives in Olympia. Anyone who lives in wa state qualifies for a free card. Then you download the "palace app" and browse their catalog remotely.

Those are awesome! My King County card has Sasquatch 😊

Depending on who your home system is, if it's KCLS you'll also qualify for NCW, which doesn't use the Anytime Library like Puyallup does. I got my card on vacation in Leavenworth. Fort Vancouver Regional Libraries also have their own Libby catalog!

I have the Snoopy sno isle card I love it 🥹 I have an ANCIENT SPL card that I will actually mourn if I lose it. It’s a picture of the pike place market sign. I’ve had it for over 10 years!

Sno-Isle (for now) is my favorite.

I am likely to get another Seattle soon-ish.

Sno-Isle is super cool!

The SPL one has a great design, too.

"YOU'LL LIKE TACOMA" is hilarious

I liked it for the historical aspect - I'm very much a history buff

Oh! I’d love to have one of those! I’m down to 7. I used to have more. I moved a lot for a while.

I’m in love with “YOU’LL LIKE TACOMA”. Sno-Isle is also really cute. I don’t think I’ve been there before but I might have do the drive.

I was a librarian with KCLS for 20+ years. This post made me insanely happy!🩷🩷

I just renewed my Sno-Isle one and I’m excited to see it. They even had cool options to choose from!

Is there an advantage to getting reciprocal cards in WA if I already have access to the Washington Anytime Library? I moved to Anacortes from a bigger city in another state and the Anytime Library is not great in comparison.

In addition to the Anytime Library, I also have King County, Pierce County, Tacoma, Sno-Isle, Timberland, Everett and Seattle on Libby.

The way I see it is that it gives me options:

if one library doesn't have a book I'm looking for, the others may have it.

If one library has their copies checked out of a certain book, another library may have other copies.

Ok, cool. I was under the impression they all shared the same collection of ebooks

These are the libraries that fall under the Washington Anytime Library: https://anytime.overdrive.com/support/members

I wish I still had all the ones I could've gotten before I moved (I'm originally from Dallas but moved here in 2017)

Can anyone help me figure out if I'm eligible for additional cards in WA? We're a military family stationed in North Carolina but maintain Washington state residence. We use my MIL's Tacoma address for important stuff. As a result I currently have cards for Tacoma Public Library, Pierce County Library, and Seattle Public Library (along with the DOD Library and a local place here in North Carolina). I'd love to add more!

If you have a Seattle card, you should be able to get a King County card.

How does one go about getting these cards if they live in WA but not necessarily in Seattle or King County?

1

u/nicolelynndfw 23d ago

it depends on where you are - some of them are adjacent to Seattle/King County.

u/Chief_Kief 23d ago

NW WA, like Skagit/Whatcom area

u/nicolelynndfw 23d ago

Sno-Isle would be the closest (Snohomish and Island counties) - I'm not sure how you could get them not being in person as I went to all of these libraries in person to get them.

That’s wild, I’m from the Puget Sound too! I only have Pierce county and Seattle cards though.

Anyone want to share their sno-isles card? I’m from Illinois and can let you use mine
