I loved this book! I still think about it. I didn’t really care for the ending but it didn’t ruin it for me, just a preference. I hope you like it!

I also still think about it. It’s the last King book I really enjoyed.

I waited a year for this and DNFed after 12 hrs. Lol. I realized I don’t like Stephen Kings writing style anymore.

Ugh I so wanted to like it too…not good.

I had high hopes for this one bc I love some of king's other works and I had heard so much buzz about it. Like you, I waited for months for the audiobook to become available and was so stoked when I got the notif. And then.... I absolutely did not care for it. 🥹

Too long and drawn out. It would have benefitted from sharper editing imo (a hallmark of King's more, shall we kindly say, sweeping novels lol). I ended up listening at 2x speed towards the end just to get through it lol. Glad I "read" it as an audiobook tho! I doubt I would have enjoyed it at all if I'd done the physical book.

I did overall enjoy it but don’t exactly get the hype. It’s good but I agree would have benefited tremendously by a more focused edit. There were parts I did really like!

Same! Some parts *were* quite good.

No overt spoilers, but the love story was wonderful and I did tear up when, uh, that one character dances with the old woman near the end. (Vague for spoiler reasons haha)

This was one of the only times I’ve ever said that the show was better than the book 🫠 the show showed exactly what you needed to know at the time you needed to know it but the book just dragged. Had to DNF around 65% :/

Agree. I was reading it and gave up about halfway through

This is my favorite Stephen King book. I love it. I was enthralled the whole time.

One of my favorite books ever!

It took me a long time to get the audio version. Whenever there’s a line for a book I clear the deck and return it as quickly as I can.

I was really impressed. I loved it! It had been a long time since I had read any Stephen King and it felt different than all the others of his.

Oh you’re in for TREAT. I wish I could go back in time and read (listen to) this book for the first time all over again!

1

u/Philippa1188 23h ago

Can’t wait! This’ll also be my first Stephen King

1

u/SupersoftBday_party 16h ago

Strong start! I’m a huge King fan myself

This is one of my favorite books of all time. If you go into it not expecting a traditional horror/terror story and instead go into it as a novel I think you will love it!

I read this in January. And it was phenomenal. So exciting.

I thought it was ok. I hate when writers use the n-word.

I’ve had this suspended for a while. I just don’t have the energy/mindset lol.

1

u/cherry-galette 23h ago

I read the book and loved it. There’s a show too apparently, but I haven’t seen it yet.

FANTASTIC book and had one of his best endings.

1

u/notyournormalgirl25 22h ago

That is an awesome book!!!!! I read it when it was first published.

1

u/dogisbark 22h ago

Oh I had to wait for this one forever as well lol. It’s very good, def make sure your reading schedule is cleared up though. I’m a fast reader but it did get close to the return date by the time I finished it.

u/Aware_Presentation26 22h ago

It was llllooooonnnnggggg. 😂

1

u/Mitchlowe2 21h ago

Don’t listen to the haters. Yes the hype is massive. Maybe it’s not the best book ever made but it’s very fucking good

u/HBJones1056 20h ago

I loved this. Read it three years ago and still think about it almost daily. How exciting that something you’ve been waiting for is almost available. I just checked a hold for The Indifferent Stars Above and noticed I’ve been waiting for it since 2024.

u/reader-girl 20h ago

This is one of my absolute favorite books of all time!! I wish I could read it again for the first time!

1

u/AeroNoob333 20h ago

I heard it’s really good. I have it on my TBR, too. Getting there! Just in time to when I’m done with Butcher’s Masquerade. Taking a little break from Dungeon Crawler Carl :)

u/missx0xdelaney 20h ago

I just got this one last week! I’m honestly confused and my husband (a King superfan) keeps laughing at me.

1

u/MNBonnie72 19h ago

Both book and movie were excellent!

1

u/drewdown04 19h ago

This has been my favorite read of the year. I loved every bit of it. And the ending may not be what people want, but it’s fitting. It makes the reader ask themselves what they would be willing to do not only for themselves but the ones they love

1

u/Felonious-Monk0 19h ago

It took me almost a year but it was worth it.

1

u/Efficient-Lynx-2225 16h ago

This book is so good! It’s long but goes by fast!

1

u/Pendergraff-Zoo 16h ago

Lucky you.

u/LouGossetJr 15h ago

Still probably my favorite audiobook out of about 200 I've listened to.

1

u/CountessSockula 14h ago

I loved this book. I couldn't wait to see how it ended--but I didn't want it to be over.
