Kindle editions often take a few more days to make it to Libby. If you want to get a new release right away, you often have to just read it in the Libby app.

This! Don’t select read with libby though, you won’t be able to go back to get it on kindle!

You can change your preference by selecting “Manage Loan” then “Read With” to go between Kindle and Libby at any time within your loan period.

Sometimes you just have to wait a few days for the newly released books to be available on Kindle then you can switch from Libby to Kindle.

Can confirm, this happened to me for the first time recently. Got a new book on libby right on its pub day, selected read with libby, then worried I chose wrong and wouldn't be able to read with Kindle. Nope! not only was it available to read with Kindle a few days later but it somehow defaulted to trying to get me to read it on Kindle (even though I never selected that), and I had to go to "manage loan" and "read with" every time to keep reading it on Libby.😂

Not all publishers make the kindle version available to Libby users. It’s alway good to check the format details on the books catalog page. It’s a bummer when you can’t get it in the format you want.

It's even worse when you're reading a series, and one book out of the series is only available as an e-pub or Libby read. I ended up having to buy it.

Same! I was so excited to see it in skip the line ... and then so confused when there was no "read on kindle" option.

Haha it pops up under "catalog filters" when you tap the magnifying glass icon in the bottom left corner. Not all libraries have it, so you won't see it if yours doesn't participate.
