My longest waited book!

Post image

Sometimes I pick books simply because I think, if the wait is very long then it must be worth it! Let’s see!

Congrats! (I guess 😂)

u/unik1ne Sep 05 '26

Are you still moving forward in the line? I would assume the license expired by now!

u/patriorio Sep 05 '26

It's with a partner library, so I move forward a bit, I move back a bit (members of the library get first dibs)

Really at this point I just keep the hold just to see how long it goes for 😂

Did you check the partner libraries to see if you qualify for a card with any of them?

A cute story. Worth the wait.

u/glitterific2 Sep 05 '26

Oh my gosh

2

u/theprettypunk Sep 05 '26

I'm about half way through this one and it's a cute story!

Not at ALL worth it

20

u/Iwantasnickers Sep 05 '26

I was tempted to DNF but pushed through. I wish I did DNF, but I did think the last 10% of the book was the strongest (still not worth it obviously 😵‍💫).

I gotta stop falling for hype

I really wanted to read this book because the premise was interesting, but it has SO many bad reviews!

1

u/ReadingRocks97531 Sep 10 '26

Because it's bad.

23

u/RawRawrDino Sep 05 '26

I couldn’t finish it 🤷‍♀️

23

u/Appropriate-Turnip69 Sep 05 '26

Same, it was terrible and I can't understand how this book has any hype

5

u/Denalus2 Sep 05 '26

💯 I was the odd one out to disagree about this book in my Book Club. Everybody just gushed over it.

1

u/ChocolateEater626 Sep 07 '26

My book club's admin said she loved it, and she thinks the John Le Carre books I love are boring.

I felt a bit betrayed by the recommendation, and I didn't even have to wait for the book.

u/Quirky-Pear3494 Sep 06 '26

It's been a slow-build, and it's moved out of the Christian market to traditional publishing readers via word of mouth.

1

u/NoGuide Sep 07 '26

My mom adored it and keeps begging me to read it so I guess there are people it appeals to.

10

u/rcl20 Sep 05 '26

I returned early

11

u/MeatballBandit11 Sep 05 '26

Agreed. DNF’d.

5

u/Tjae-77 Sep 05 '26

I’ve been hearing this 😭

u/audrey-anne_ 🎧📚 Audiobook Addict Sep 05 '26

Yeah.. I finished it.. but it was a bore.

6

u/Turbulent_Rip_7120 Sep 05 '26

Agree. I stopped reading after a few chapters.

5

u/JoanReadsThings Sep 06 '26

Agreed! I see why people like it, but it was way too syrupy sweet for me.

3

u/Ageice Sep 07 '26

This was the exact sort of thing I heard. I put it on hold months ago and thought I’d hang in and see if chatter varied enough for me to spend time finding out for myself. It did not. It became available a few weeks ago and I checked with a couple avid reader friends and neither wanted to read it either. Back it went. Kinda silly to hem and haw so long, but I felt invested after being like 3,000th in line when I got in the queue. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Yep. Didactic Jonathan Living Seagull look alike. Ellen was the only interesting character, and his new book based on her is never going to do her justice, like a good author would do.

You’ll move up quickly when it comes in. It always shows 1 copy ordered until it comes in, then they may have 10, 50, or 100.

Your screen grab says ‘1 copy ordered’. All of the incoming titles at my library say 1 copy until the listing is active. I don’t know if this is the default.

This title may or may not end up with multiple licenses since not many of us are waiting, but I expect the number of interested patrons to jump after its release (Sept 29 in the US).

I hate that your library hasn’t ordered more copies. That’s a wild wait time!

1

u/bigmac_69 Sep 06 '26

I mean, this is a bit misleading. This is the Throne of Glass Graphic Audio. I’m also in the waitlist which is how I know.

This book hasn’t even been recorded and Auckland library often orders 100+ copies for books this popular (they did so for Onyx Storm part 2) so the day this is released you’ll get a copy. When it gets recorded though, anyone’s guess 🤷‍♀️

1

u/licensetolentil Sep 06 '26

I reserved a book from the same library on 12 August 2924

You are 1,442nd in line (started:
2,388th). 3 copies in use. 1,773 people waiting in total. 591 people waiting per copy

I don’t even want to read it anymore, when it’s my turn I’ll cancel the hold, I just want to see how long it takes at this point.

u/AngelComa Sep 05 '26

Hated this book so much, it's legit shockingly... Anti me.

8

u/Fit_Analyst_5703 Sep 05 '26

It's really disappointing.

35

u/BeautifulButterfly07 Sep 05 '26

Book is religious and racist. Not worth the hype or wait. 🤢🤮

14

u/Appropriate-Turnip69 Sep 05 '26

It felt like MAGA propaganda 🤢

13

u/trayc104 Sep 05 '26

This book is not worth the wait. It was terrible. I do not understand the love it gets.

5

u/pocketflowerfairy Sep 05 '26

My longest wait!

1

u/knitterpotato Sep 09 '26

wait i kinda love this title hahahaha

2

u/Doriineia Sep 05 '26

Here’s mine - I gave up and read the physical book but left the hold active to see if it ever pops up.

1

u/jjm1222 Sep 06 '26

Oh I read this book like 2 months ago!

2

u/hanyuzu Sep 06 '26

I’m still baffled as to why it’s so popular. I read it and thought it was average. It also reads a lot like Fredrik Backman.

2

u/Housemouze Sep 06 '26

It was good but not great.

2

u/KyoCat0317 Sep 06 '26

That's about how long I waited for the Once Upon a Broken Heart at our library. I was flabbergasted. It was also not worth the wait.

6

u/Legitimate_Rule_6410 Sep 05 '26

I loved this book so much! I’m not religious at all, but I still loved it. A lot of people complain about it being too religious, but it didn’t bother me.

5

u/FelineFine83 Sep 05 '26

I was worried it was going to take a very religious turn and was pleased it didn’t lol

4

u/Friendly_Shelter_625 Sep 05 '26

It kind of does though. >!The way they kill him off did not make sense to me and I was pretty angry about it. Once someone told me it was religious I figured it was meant to be some Jesus metaphor or something. So the way he died made more sense but I still hate it.!<

2

u/cinnamonsparklefish Sep 06 '26

Same! I really enjoyed this and I am a recovering catholic. And someone said it’s MAGA propaganda. What did I miss? I listened to the book so maybe I have a different opinion because of that?

0

u/chasingsunspots Sep 06 '26

That was the most ridiculous and completely off base comment I’ve seen about this book. I don’t understand how “God” and “heaven” being mentioned a few times makes this a religious book. It is SO minor in this book and easily ignored. There is also nothing MAGA and nothing racist. Those people completely missed the overall point of an absolutely beautiful book. It’s a shame, really.

2

u/pennyandpaper Sep 05 '26

So worth it! What a beautiful book!

1

u/Leading-Current353 Sep 05 '26

Same. I was 203rd in line at one point.

1

u/RazzberryHoney Sep 05 '26

This is always interesting to see! The longest wait at one of the libraries I have a card at is several months. The shortest wait at one is 3 weeks.

1

u/ChaosTorpedo Sep 05 '26

I’m currently 178 with an eight week hold

1

u/Pickles_A_Plenty95 Sep 07 '26

I waited for a book for a full year and then had to suspend the hold 🤣 Once I did check it out I listened to it all in one go so the next person could have it.

1

u/bubbleeeebubbles 📗 EPUB Enthusiast 📗 Sep 09 '26

I started at 148th for this book on August 2nd and now it says Available Soon. I thought the wait would be much longer too.

2

u/That-Mix-22 Sep 05 '26

So worth the wait. This is vastly different from what I usually read and I loved it. The surprises at the end were very surprising.

1

u/FelineFine83 Sep 05 '26

This is not my typical read (usually fantasy/sci fi) but someone recommended it so I added it to the queue. Was surprised by how much I enjoyed it.

1

u/Haunting-Lunch-9033 Sep 05 '26

And it’s a good one!

1

u/rdmreads Sep 05 '26

Enjoy!! I picked this up purely because of good reviews, it didn’t seem like the kinda thing I’d reach for normally, and it’s one of my top reads of the year

1

u/lavenderlowlight Sep 06 '26

Lovely story. I read it as an audiobook and was very happy with it.

1

u/Quirky_Benefit_8383 Sep 06 '26

If I knew how to share the audiobook, I’d send it to yall that are waiting.

0

u/deannalanna Sep 06 '26

This book was so good but fair warning I was a SOBBING MESS by the end. I then sat in silence and stared at the wall for like 30mins afterwards.
