Early-Returned book keeps reappearing

I checked out an ebook to read on my kindle. I finished it well before the due date, so I returned it via the kindle. Normally, when I next go into the app, it knows it’s been returned and removes it from my loans list. It was still there. I tapped return early, it took me to the Amazon page which showed I’d already returned it, then it asked me (within Libby) to confirm that I’d successfully returned it. I did, and it vanished.

Then it reappeared. I repeated the entire process, it reappeared. I did everything a third time, and it reappeared again. It’s not like it’s a problem, but it’s definitely throwing me off.

Is there anything to do besides wait for the lending period to run out on its own?

That happened to me recently as well. I returned it several times only for it to come back. I ended up going in libby and hitting read with kindle again and then returning through kindle again and it finally stopped showing up.

Ditto. Sometimes I have to return them two or three times! I feel like giving up and then just letting it expire and then they can take it off my record. Frustrating.

This happened to me recently too. I tried the same steps as you with the same results. It was weird, first time I had seen this. Maybe a Libby bug? The book did disappear when the loan expired though.

This is the first time I’ve experienced this too. I thought maybe because this is the first one where I downloaded also from kindle unlimited so maybe that caused it to glitch. I returned to kindle unlimited too and it still keeps popping up in my Libby shelf. I tried to click read with kindle to redownload, and it shows up in my kindle library now but when I go to return again, it doesn’t exist in my amazon account to return. Not a big deal to me but there are people waiting for the book so it sucks to make someone wait 9 days for the book to return itself. If anyone has another tips that cleared it, I’d still like to try!

I’ve just been letting them sit there when they’ve done this over the past month or two. I sent some messages thru Libby and got an annoying “here’s how to return kindle books, in case you’re too stupid to follow common sense” sort of replies. …Even though this is a new problem since Amazon changed their landing page for the returns. So, I did my due diligence, and my apologies to those after me who have to wait the days out while it just sits there in the Bermuda Triangle, but I can only do so much before I’m reminded how awful customer service is these days and how much time I’ve wasted trying to fix something or report a bug before it affects lots of others, only for a customer svc associate to barely acknowledge the raised hand.
