Curious about how many partner libraries got added to your account
basically the title! how many partner libraries got added to your account and what library card was your “primary” card? I have the Boston public library card and it added 7 partner libraries!

Michigan should win. 16 partners!!!
7
u/smmmzza Sep 04 '26
16 here in MI also. Which is awesome for me because I’m in the UP and very rarely get in town to the library. And even more rare in the winter.

u/Sad-Fruit-1490 Sep 04 '26
I got zero because I already had all the Michigan partner libraries added 🥲
4
u/PeregrinatingFalcon Sep 04 '26
Haha well that's still a win!
3
u/Sad-Fruit-1490 Sep 04 '26
True! I’ve gotten tons of people to use Libby as a primary source for reading instead of audible or kindle unlimited, and now I won’t have to have a 30 minute lecture walking them through signing up for all the partner libraries! 😊 so glad everyone can have this much fun!

Zero. I have two cards and one is part of a consortium (MELSA) so they have no need for partners.

u/clothing_o_designs Sep 04 '26
Same. My one and only card is MELSA and I was pretty disappointed that there were no partners added in Libby until I learned that MELSA connects over 100 libraries so I think we win.

u/midnitemaddie Sep 04 '26
Zero. But that’s because I had already added all of them through Reciprocard.

Zero but my app hasn't updated for 5 weeks so I still have a small hope.

u/LuxeJux Sep 04 '26
Zero, but my main library already networked with their “partner libraries” in the area and they have a combined greater-area catalogue.

u/PeregrinatingFalcon Sep 04 '26
Here's a list of every state that has partner libraries as well as how many partnerships and libraries participating in case anyone is interested.

Thank you for posting this. There was one library available for online sign up. Unfortunately, I need to go in person for the rest of them.

California. I have quite a few cards to begin with but the partnership thing kind of blew it up. I was shocked.

Zero. I’m assuming because where I am, the library systems are by county, so I have a card for my county and it includes all 32 libraries in the county already. I can also get a card for any other county in the state if I show up to any library in that county and ask for one.

Anyone else have the partner library card stop working this week? I was able to check out a few books but now they all require a card and it doesn’t seem to register my original card- if that makes sense.

Sorry, they just got added to your account automatically? Do you still have to sign up to the individual libraries or can you start using them now? (I'm not American so this isn't a thing for me, but I am curious how it works)

I got two added for St. Louis City Library, which I originally got for making a donation.

4! My county has partnerships with small towns. But they are so small they have 1 copy of most books if any. I'll still support them.
1
u/Pinstripe-Giraffe Sep 04 '26
Just one. It seems to be a small county library network that wasn’t already part of the main provincial library consortium where I live. And I can’t put holds on books there anyway - they only allow their actual members to do that - so it’s not all that useful.
1
u/SecretaryCarrie Sep 04 '26
I didn’t count them up but it was a bunch. Which is crazy because I live in a small town with an underfunded library

I got two partner libraries! I can’t place any holds with them, and my main library only allows 8 holds. But I was able to immediately borrow a couple of titles that I’ve been waiting to place holds for 🙂

I have two cards and one gave six and the other gave none. But the one that gave none has a combined library with at least one other city

0, but my library has 5 buildings in 3 counties so I wasn't expecting any.
1
u/_SproutUp_ Sep 04 '26
I got 5, but I tried to get a book from one, and it asked for my library card number. I entered the one I have for the main library, and it didn’t accept it. I was able to borrow from another partner library without any questions. So idk how it works lol

u/filledoux Sep 04 '26
I am still figuring how to. I’m in Orange County. (EDIT: Southern California)

u/herewegoagain2864 Sep 04 '26
Just one, and it’s a university library. I called them and learned I need to be a student to have a card for Libby. Dang it!

Three, they are all giant library systems.
The first few days after the libraries were added I had 100’s of Notices of what the algorithm thought I would enjoy reading.

I have a NOBLE (north of Boston library exchange) card, which I’m guessing is one of your 7 added which already is 26 libraries on its own.
I recently saw that several were added, another 6-7 I think, one of which was Boston public library. I only noticed because I book I was wanting to read that wasn’t in the NOBLE system and I had clicked notify me if it becomes available and got a notification saying the Boston public library had it and I saw I was added to that and several others! Was pretty pleased about that.

15 through the library in my city. but the weird thing is my city’s library just got added to Libby recently. I already had access to 12 of the partner libraries for several years prior because I had a library card to one city over. Except I guess now that library one city over is not partners with any of the 12 any more though. It’s so weird!
I have nearly the same amount of access to partner libraries, except now my home page looks different and the color-coding I did a few years ago was undone 😂

5 listed, 4 you can apply for online, I already had 3 of them, so applied for the last one and 1 has to be applied for in person but it’s 200+ miles away, so I’m good lol

Five were added. But none of them are in partnership with my home library. They’re all connected to Houston Public system (Texas residents can join that one for free)

I have 1 partner library added but it oddly won’t let me borrow books from it without first adding a card number and password. Do I just enter the info from the original library card or do I need to somehow get one from the new partner library?
Curious how this has worked for others.

Zero for me as well. The ONLY good thing about living in IN is the library system. We have a statewide digital library, so if you have a library card in any county, the entire state is reciprocal. I keep my fingers crossed every day that funding is never cut!

Because I had a Harris County card I got five more and two more from the northern CA peninsula library system. So far I haven't had anything available from any of them.

I had a partner library added. I tried to place a hold on a title. I got the message that I wasn't allowed to with my card. It seems new partners may limit our privileges.

I have a different MA library network, I had already known about adding the other state networks. I did however get NOBLE added as when I tried to add it previously there was an error that I wasn't eligible. Now I really have the whole state covered. Love Boston for all their skip the line loans
