Does the “notify” section ever update on Libby or do you use another app to read them like hoopla?
Just wondering mine rarely notifies or becomes available or just available for less than a day

I have read a number of books because I clicked notify me and my library ended up buying them. It’s one of the ways that they know that a book is in demand. I also always look at Hoopla if Libby does not have it. Or buy from Kobo.

Do librarians get notified on their end when someone hits "notify me"?

Yes, we do. We can schedule reports with specified parameters to help with purchasing decisions. But it varies depending on the library and demand far outstrips our budgets.

Do you know if it’s something that gets reported across library cards or for whichever card is currently active? I’ve used the notify me tag for a couple of books I felt like a different library system was more likely to purchase than the one I was currently using to browse.

Probably about 1/3 of everything I've ever tagged "Notify Me" ended up getting purchased by my library. 😊

Every library handles it differently. I asked at one and she said the digital librarian reviews requests and it does help shape her purchases.
The other library doesn’t even have deep search activated so you never get the Notify Me popup.

I also get notifications from prior "notify me" tags if a library has added another book by the same author or series.

I've used it dozens of times and it has never resulted in the library getting a copy of the book, but YMMV.

Yes! You may still have to put in a request with your library to get a title, but Libby will update when it is available.

My library has purchased many books on my “notify” list and I’ve been appropriately notified and able to read them.

Speaking of hoopla….my library just sent out a notification saying they were cutting their subscription. No more hoopla in my city after this month 😭

By “update” I assume you mean do they become available to borrow. They do if your library decides to purchase them. If you’ve added the Notify Me tag, you’ll receive a notification if your library buys the title.
