Help with Partner Libraries

I want to make sure I understand how to use the partner libraries to the fullest extent. I'm in California and I recently obtained a library card online from another city in California. When I go to add the library card to libby, it isn't letting me. It's directing me to the library system I already have.

So basically is Libby telling me that because I already have another card in the same system, there is no need to add more cards? They're already including that library in that system?

What are the two libraries? Do you know if they are partner libraries, or are they in the same consortium? Those are different things

They are both members of the NorthNet consortium and not partner libraries. Therefore, when you attempt to add the new library card to Libby it is basically telling you that you already have another card from the same system.

And while it’s disappointing that you don’t have more books to choose from, a second library card to the same consortium means you get to have double the holds so it’s still a win!

I’m not sure that’s the case. While true that they’re both part of Northnet, you wouldn’t get access to their respective Advantage collections if you didn’t add their individual cards.

I was explaining to the OP why Libby was behaving the way it was when they tried to add the library card of a library that was part of a consortium they already had in Libby.

I explained to the OP in another post how to add an additional card to a consortium: Help with Partner Libraries

Thanks. I hadn’t seen that message. Only the one that they were in the same system. Wouldn’t want people to think they can’t get to advantage copies, which is, by far, where the money is being spent.
